King's Breach Normal (32+) : A Tank's Perspective

By: Aife

This is a summary of the bosses in KB normal and will contain my notes on tanking methods for their defeat.

Boss 1: Difficulty 1/5

Hunter Suleng

What is that Aife, another tank and spank? Sure is kids!

Pull Suleng and just focus him down, he summons his puppies occasionally just keep them off your group and you should be fine. He also has a frontal AOE cleave so be wary of that. It usually helps to have your group close by for easy taunts on the adds.

Boss 2: Difficulty 2/5

Ravalos

Who doesn't love fighting massive Croc's that throw up acid.

Has two cone attacks, one rear and one frontal. The frontal one will stun players and deal damage the rear dealing damage and knocking players back. If you have MDPS get them to attack the boss side on.

Ravalos will also put down AOE DoT pools that slow you, move out of them they do a LOT of damage.

I find that keeping him in one spot usually helps the encounter along. Pretty tanky spanky, as long as your DPS don't stand in pools of acidy death.

Boss 3: Difficulty 3-4/5

The Manticore brothers of death!

Soulflayer Mondrach and Flesheater Autoch.

In Normal mode one or the other spawns, in Expert its both.

Mondrach is the caster-ish one of the two.

He will summon fire AOEs around the tanking area which deal some quite moderate damage.

He also has a frontal AOE cleave and a random knock-back that usually targets the tank. I'm not sure if he has a rear attack in Normal.

Autoch not only has a cooler name but seems to be more melee focused.

Puts a nasty DoT on your group can be cured as it is a poison. Autoch like Mondrach also has a random knock-back. He also has a charge, but when his target isn't in range he puts a nasty DoT on them so be aware of that.

Basically to stop the knock-backs on both these bosses you need to tank them against the tree at the left side of the tanking area. This can be difficult to angle them towards and sometimes leads to LoS issues. I think that Mondarch is harder to pull in due to his ability to range. If you can't be stuffed being knocked back try Paragon for 'Way of the Mountain' (knock-back immunity).

These bosses just take some practice to get right so make sure that you practice them especially due to the ridiculous nature of KB expert.

Boss 4: Difficulty 2/5

Shadehorror Phantasm

Easy boss. Get your team behind the tree stump on the right side of the tank area. When you pull the boss he will cast Void Storm which basically nom nom noms your whole team if they don't LoS it. Call when its being cast and DPS get behind the tree or your tank will yell at you. The boss will also periodically summon adds and become immune. Gather them all up and AOE them down, after that the boss will become active again. RDPS is advisable for this fight.
