King Of The Hill [Fin's Chaos Squad June 26th 2014]

By: Findan

Still reeling from the stinging defeat at Kaineng Hills Keep at the hands of our heroes, Devona's Rest decided to take their frustration out on Lake Tower. They were mad. They were angry. Angrier than a nest full of angry hornets being poked at by a stick. They were frothing at the mouth, out for vengeance. Seeing the crossed swords show up on Lake Tower, our wily band of heroes decided to intervene once again. The call was made and the troops were mobilized toward the tower.

Upon arriving at the sentry post between Lake Tower and Kaineng Hills, the first of the Devona's Rest troops were spotted. They were heading toward Water Camp, no doubt en route to resupply. Terror enveloped them and they froze when they saw our band of heroes. When their legs finally started to work again, they turned and ran with their tails between their legs. Our squad of soldiers followed them cautiously toward Lake Tower tunnel, anticipating an ambush. Lo and behold, there they stood on the far end of the tunnel, arrow carts and ballistas pointed down the tunnel, awaiting our heroes.

The decision was made to fall back from the tunnel immediately. Our heroes circled around through the passageway to the left of the tunnel in order to flank the enemy from behind. Once through the passage, our heroes charged into the fray, almost immediately taking down several enemy soldiers. To their credit, however, the enemy reacted quickly, turning their arrow carts and ballistas on our group of heroes. Dodging and weaving our heroes continued to push at the enemy until the rain of arrow carts got too heavy. The call was made, our squad of heroes rallied their fallen and moved west toward higher ground. They would make their stand atop the hill overlooking Lake Tower.

Blinded with fury and rage, the enemy chased after our heroes. They wanted blood. They wanted revenge for the embarrassing defeat at Kaineng Hills! With the height advantage, our heroes held their ground, mowing down any who dared to challenge them on their hill. Wave after wave the enemy charged in and wave after wave the enemy were sent packing in body bags. Every time the enemy fell, they would return with greater numbers.

As their numbers swelled, more and more enemy troops pouring in from everywhere, our heroes quickly assembled an arrow cart atop their hill and proceeded to mow them down. That only made the enemy even madder - if that were even possible. Enemy warriors and elementalists charged the hill, in failed attempts at taking down the arrow cart. An enemy arrow cart was spotted on the field behind enemy lines and our heroes turned their attention to it. Being King of the Hill has its advantages - the enemy arrow cart was dealt with swiftly and efficiently.

After that all hell broke loose. The enemy ranks suddenly tripled in number. The message was clear: they were recalling their entire forces from all the borderlands to deal with our wily band of a dozen or so heroes! They had recalled everyone and anyone who could carry a sword or a hammer (and even those who couldn't). Multiple arrow carts and ballistas sprang up around Lake Tower Hill all focusing their fire on our band of heroes! Although our squadron of heroes eventually suffered a defeat that day, they can take pride in knowing that the enemy had to outnumber them more than five to one in order to vanquish them!

A job well done by everyone :-)
