Realm Of The Fae Normal (16-20) : A Tank's Perspective

By: Aife

A general overview of the bosses and tanking methods used to down them.

Boss 1: Difficulty 2/5

Trickster Maelow

This boss is quite simple. Taunt and AOE all three bosses and keep the aggro one you. Then focus down the adds that buff Maelow. It doesn't matter what order but it has to be done relatively quickly as to stop your healer OOMing.

After the three adds are down Trickster Maelow becomes an easy tank and spank, he does stun the tank and will randomly turn players into bunnies. So be aware of that aspect if you healer gets transmogrified.

Boss 2: Difficulty 1/5

Luggodhan

Simple tank and spank boss again. Uses a dispellable DoT throughout the fight and also randomly places AOE down. Just move out of it and you should be fine.

Boss 3: Difficulty 2/5

Battlemaster Atrophinius

Simple tank and spank yet again. There is a tent next to a rock at the start of the tanking area get your team to stack up there while you tank on the ground. He does have a frontal cleave. The reason for stacking up on the tent is that his charge wont knockback players because he can't reach them. The only one needing to worry about knockback is the tank.

Make sure that you stay within LoS of your healer and try to keep aggro on the two ranged adds that sit towards the back during the fight.

Boss 4: Difficulty 4/5

Fae Lord Twyl

This fight is quite complex and can be difficult for new tanks due to the amount of AOE threat that is required.

The fight will start off with 3 portals (only one at a time) out of the portals come three fights. First get your team to stack up, usually on or near the lone rock on the right side edge.

The first portal is a Ranged Satyr, easily beaten

The second is a Flame Elemental, this guy will gradually split himself into multiples as you do damage getting to the point where there are ten mobs. Can be difficult to hold them all so if need be get your DPS to pull them off your healers.

The third is a large Treant, not sure if he has a knock back or not that may only be in expert but tank him against something in case. He will also spawn lots of little bugs. About 8 or so. They are easily killed and you may still have some on you when the Treant is killed and the real boss approaches.

Fae Lord Twyl. Once you have downed the three avatars Twyl will arrive from a portal at the back of the tanking arena. Taunt him as soon as possible as he usually runs for your healers. He is quite tank and spank and will randomly cast a freeze on players within your party. Also on the ground there will be a moving AOE, it does some okay damage so stick out of it if you can.

The hardest part of the fight is just the three avatars and their mass mob spawning other than that the actual boss isn't so bad.

This is not a definitive guide and will most likely have mistakes and miss information. Also note that this guide is for the normal mode of Realm of the Fae (16-20).
