Reset Night Adventures: The Battle Of Dreaming Bay

By: Lugubelinus

Last night was an impressive series of battles, right from the start. But one battle stands out to me in particular. About two and a half hours into the event, my squad was preparing to defend our Bay when most of our troops were called away to Garrison. Led by our fearless new commander Saltydog, a small group of us dug in with a few arrow carts and a ballista and prepared to face the full GoM zerg, complete with trebuchets, catapults, ballistas, and an omega golem. Several comparisons were made to the Alamo, as I recall. When the sea of red names finally poured through the inner wall, we lit them up and to our surprise, they faltered. After some attempts to clear our siege, they finally stormed the Lord room with massive casualties. My arrow cart was destroyed, but after fighting off my opponents I found another one and helped clear the room. After some more back and forth we pushed out and the forces of GoM evaporated before our eyes. Such a victory deserves to be immortalized in song, so I will adapt a favorite of mine (Sabaton's "40:1") for this purpose.

So silent before the storm
Awaiting command
A few has been chosen to stand
As one outnumbered by far
The orders from high command
Fight back, hold your ground!
One dark Friday evening it came
A war unknown to the world

No army may enter that land
That is protected by Sanctum hands
Unless you are forty to one
Your force will soon be undone

Baptised in fire
Forty to one
Spirit of Oldroar
Death and glory
Gaiscioch soldiers
Second to none
Wrath of the GoM zerg brought to a halt

On Friday at reset it starts
The rage of the Vox
A barrage of catas and trebs
Stand fast, the bunkers will hold
The commander has pledged his life
I'll face my fate here!
The sound of artillery strike
So fierce
The thunder of guns

So come, bring on all that you've got
Come hell, come high water, never stop
Unless you are forty to one
Your lives will soon be undone

Baptised in fire
Forty to one
Spirit of Oldroar
Death and glory
Gaiscioch soldiers
Second to none
Wrath of the GoM zerg brought to a halt!

-Lugh of the Dawn, courtesy of the excellent Swedish band Sabaton. Their music is fantastic for WvW, check it out. Special thanks again to my squad commander Naomi Yune/Saltydog.
