Lvl 32 and still cant morph Volitile familiar. I want it over with so I can move on lol. Yes I know they are a bit weak but kiting big mobs Clanfear is usefull when solo.

That being said its been on my bar 100% of the time and always out just trying to get it over with so I can move on.

See lots of lower lvl people with it so I do not get it. Am I bugged out??

So who has Clanfear and what lvl were you able to morph it???

I could morph mine around 7-8. Does your current familiar detonate when killed or un-summoned? Maybe you morphed it earlier. Unstable is the un-morphed one, Volatile is the morph opposite of clanfear.

Right now you can only do one morph.  Volatile is the morph of the Unstable - there is no other morph available at this point.   It will still level from 1 - 4 but that is it.  Not sure what the future will hold - but the one morph is all we get.

Yes as was said above, if your familiar is called Volatile then you have already morphed it. To undo the morph and choose the Clanfear morph instead of the Volatile you can respec your skill points at the respec shrine in Mournhold. However, the downside to this is that you have to to respec everything, not just the morphs, and it can be expensive depending on how many points you have already spent.

There are some awesome builds that are really strong and don't include pets, so before spending your hard earned gold think about what you want your build to be in the long run. If you like using pets and want to plan your end game build around them then it might be worth the cost to respec. Having said that I plan to respec later on for end game anyway to get points back in things that I won't use anymore (such as research trait points spent in crafting after researching is all done).

Take a trip to the respec shrine and click to see how expensive it will be then you can weigh up whether it is worth it at this point. I did not find the Clanfear much more help than the Volatile familiar to be honest, and almost never used pets when I got into higher levels on PTS. It's a personal choice and depends on your playstyle and what you enjoy.

Skill reset did it thanks all. My build is fine just wanted it as an option for soloing elites. Pvp and dungeon no pets will be used. Gotten every single shard up to eastwatch and have 6 i cant even spend with all possible passives taken. With the exception of heavy and med armor. Skill points and gold dont seem to be an issue. Unless you craft and dont take the time to get them all. Was like 8k to reset.

Heard people higher say it cost a lot more so probably a good thing i did it now.

It costs 100g per skill point you have spent so you must have had around 80 spent.

Pvp will be. Mage fury, crystal shard, wall, mist form, bolt of escape. With atronach or negate as ultimate.

Dungeon will be Mage fury, crystal shard, encase, wall, mage fire.

Solo I swap out crystal shard and mage fire for clan fear and entropy.

All subject to change of course lol. Those are what make me feel powerful and usefull atm. Found most other skills sub par. So mist and bolt I have not tried yet. But the look good on paper.

For RP purposes I do not use pets at all and have had little issue so far although I know the pet would come in handy on a few of the bosses I have faced.  I am mainly Storm and Bow - or Stormbow as I call it.  I have trained Dual Wield, Bow, and Destruction Staff and will also include Resto staff for greater flexibility.  I have great fun with my Sorc which is all that is required.

I will also recommend Silver Bolts from the Fighter's Guild if you haven't gotten it already.  It is almost a must for fighting any undead and Daedric enemies (such as their clanfers and imps as well as their NPCs).  It uses Stamina so is a good one for a Sorc, knocks down said enemies, has a chance for insta kill against them, and can be morphed to hit multiple foes (which is better than the pull especially as a ranged caster).  Later you can take a passive so it also affects werewolves.

Safe journ and keep having fun!

Volatile imp is actually one of the most useful skills a sorc has.  I solo the group public dungeons due to it (and solo'd several pulls of the Coldharbour level 48+ dungeon with it.)  The explode on unsummoned, and the mana return in the skill tree are what make it so strong.
You can spam summon and unsummon to easily kill melee groups, as well as working nicely against many elites.  Granted, it is not as useful against cc immune mobs, but against those you need different tactics entirely.

All pets, however, play poorly with the tier 3 dark magic skill, which is your ultimate cc ability in game... and one which should be an option for any sorcerer who intends to venture into the VR areas solo.
