Ritual of Mara question

I have been playing for the last few weeks with someone from Canada who seems to have the same gaming hours, and we enjoy exploring PvE together. I offered to join our characters using the "Ritual of Mara" and he/she accepted. However, when I tried to complete the ritual I am able to target the character, initiate the ritual but we do not see the "Golden glow" animation and as we see on the center of our screen a window saying that we have been "joined" in the upper right we see a message saying "The ritual of Mara has been cancelled" even though none of us have cancelled it - Is there a known bug affecting the ritual or am I trying to marry some disguised Daedra???

Hmm.  It wasn't bugged a couple weeks ago when Jekyl and I started running together.  My first thought would be to make sure no one moves of accidentally fat-fingers a key on the keyboard.

Check to see if you both have the rings on to make sure the action really was cancelled.  The cancellation message may be an error.

The ring on? We both were wearing other rings at the time and expected the ring to appear in our inventory. Could it be that we must have "free fingers" for the ring to appear ???
This is worth a try tonight.

Here's another question.  I did the ritual with a friend and 24 hours later he apologized and send he wasn't happy with his class and wanted to level another one. 

Is there a divorce ritual?  LOL  I think I heard it's permanent, which is unfortunate as this is my main toon.
