Mouse issues

I'm having issues with my USB mouse (logitech) with my 1 1/2 year old HP laptop (win 7) when I'm playing GW2.  The past 2 weeks the mouse suddenly stops working (no laser).  If I unplug it and plug it back in, then it restarts.  When it stops working the touchpad mouse still works.  I don't recall having the mouse stop working when I am not in guildwars.  Oh,  I usually am on TS or Raidcall as well when this happens.

I checked for updated drivers on my mouse and there were none.  I  thought that maybe someone might have a suggestion as what I can do to fix it.  Thanks!

Do you always plug it back into the same USB port?

Which Logitech mouse do you have?   My last USB mouse did the same thing when using TS/Raidcall.  

I still prefer USB to wireless.   Now, I have the Logitech MX518 USB mouse and love it.   It's got a lot of programmable buttons (which I don't use).  I just love the way it feels in my hand.  Seems to play nice with RC.  Haven't used TS in awhile.

Do you plug your mouse directly into your computer?  Or is it plugged into something else, like a keyboard or a USB hub? 

Cyrus-  Yes, I do.  Although, I changed the port it is plugged into and still am having issues.

Garyc - My mouse is an inexpensive non-gaming mouse. It is maybe 3-4 years old.  I do plug it directly into the computer.

Thanks to both of you for replying.  It is happening now even when I'm not in Raidcall/TS... maybe I just need a new mouse.
