While i think a lot of the points are valid, there's not much to do about many of them anyway. Of course, the solution to the backward compatibility issue is to just hang onto your old consoles. Problem solved. And consoles have been trading on their franchises for a long time, so this isn't really anything new. While i agree about the stagnation, it's not always a bad thing, because the indie companies are coming up with the great singular titles that people are wanting.
As a side note: i'm all for the HD re-releases of games, because it becomes disgustingly obvious how much our graphics engines have improved when you jump from something like FFXIII back to FFXII just for a fun trip down memory lane. Trying to read the text was a nightmare on an HDTV!
I would love to see HD remakes of the old TES titles.
