Shadow Realms, opinions?

 As many of you know Bioware announced Shadow Realms. I have to admit it does look pretty interesting to me. Just wondering what others may have for an opinion.  And to start things off I'll put up my own two cents. 

What I like so far.

1. It's a mix of our current world in a science fiction sort of way, with a fantasy alternative reality world that is linked together? Not sure if I got that correct BUT if I did I have to admit that sounds pretty dang cool. 

2. The classes sound pretty fun.  A Ranger that calls forth creatures of the wild from the alternate fantasy type world to battle for him in the modern world? Kind of sounds almost like a minion master. Still it does sound pretty fun. 

3. Can build your class any way you want? Hmmm Ranger that can throw fire balls? Could be cool. 

4. They're promising a pretty big world. Again nice.

5. Instances are four man groups. At first I was a bit skeptical on this but after thinking about it, that would make it easier to make a group. So why not, sounds good to me. 

What I don't like so far.

1. EA owns Bioware and I vowed to never buy another EA game.

2. EA owns Bioware!! I hate EA so much it's not funny. 

3. Kind of seems like a possible clone of The Secret World. Which in truth might be a good thing. I liked Secret world, I just couldn't learn to like the combat. Loved the story line and the quests but not the combat. 

4. Did I mention how much I hate EA?

It looks interesting but if I can't solo stuff or be in an open world with the whole gang.... I'm just not sure.   If it is on console that would be one thing - I have my grand children and children to play with... I'm also not much of a dungeon crawler - and from all that I see so far there isn't an open world (I did go to a site -your link didn't work for me though - but couldn't find one with a great description, and watched the trailers)

Your right about several things... EA, slight rip off of TSW, EA, combat looks interesting, and EA.

Now if there is an open world and co-op play of 4v4 - maybe, if it is just co-op play then probably not.   They just call it an RPG - so I have doubts about there being an open world.   I don't hate on EA as much as you - Sony yes - but not EA and even if Sony made another game that looked very interesting I would probably give it a try.  I will try any game by anyone that looks interesting enough.

Looks like a cross between Funcoms Secret World and Dragons Age 2.  Not really my style.  I'm probably more interested in EA/DICE Star Wars Battlefront but that's an FPS not an MMO.

OK - link worked and now with reading this...

Sounds a lot more of a rip off of TSW than before.  But then again - EA is the publisher for TSW - so it figures.

2nd video gave me a headache.  Not sure who was playing it, but I wish they'd have taken their Ritalin before the demo.  Its not a FPS... you don't have to twitch the camera around like that and its difficult to show off the game when your audience wants to throw up and go take an aspirin, after trying to watch your demo.

Been getting the emails and watching it.  I do love Secret World, it has its plus and minuses like anything else.  EA... if I only played games from publishers that I liked and trusted, then I wouldn't be playing any games.  They're all wanna-be Evil Empires, they're only in it for the money.  That being said, there's a difference between the developer and publisher.  In most cases, the Publisher is a necessary evil if the Developer wants to get their game released.

So if I'm going to play a game, I play it because I like the Developer and want to support them.  They do it for the love of gaming, without them we'd be playing outside, amirite?  ;)
