Just a reminder, we got most (398) of our hero points just be leveling to 80.  So they don't need to come from hero challenges out in the world.  It's possible we'll be awarded some during the steps required to unlock the Elite specialization.

I don't play much, and I already have more than half of the 250 needed. That doesn't count the books I have in my bank.

Careful there, the Tomes of Knowledge do not give hero points at level 80, just spirit shards.

Grants one character level if below level 80 or one spirit shard if level 80.
Only usable in PvE and WvW.

I guess I will use the tomes for the 398 points, then.

Hi all, there are 214 hero points in the game and Getting to Level 80 grants you 398. Once you are level 80 the Tomes of Knowledge only give you Spirit Shards. Please Note in the table and at the end of it:

You need 170 hero points to unlock all traits/skills. 250 to unlock everything. There are 214 hero points available from skill challenges in the game right now. We will need 170 hero points to unlock the traits/skills for the elite specialization. The remainder are for Items (they are unsure if the items are skins, etc.) at this time.

I hoping the actual number of hero points required to unlock a single Elite specialization will be much lower than 250.  If you have nine character slots, one for each profession, and want to get the Elite specialization for each this will require a considerable investment of time.

The just announced Scrapper elite for engineers has some appealing features that should be useful for pvp and WvW.  The Adaptive armor trait will increase toughness and reduce condition damage received.  The function gyro can be used to finish an enemy or resurrect a teammate from range.

Necromancer Reaper elite with a greatsword looks to be good for WvW roaming and pvp.

Anyone have thoughts or opinions on which of the Elite Specializations will be "must have" items when the expansion is released?

All I know is that after reading about the Engineer's Elite Spec, I wish mine was an Asura - instead of a human.  The Scrapper spec just seems so appropriate for an Asura.   Not sure I want to tough out another engineer to 80 - but she would be so cute :)
