[Trial] Gaiscioch na Rall and Gaiscioch na Anu moving to 7 day AFK

Greetings Everyone,

In an experiment that I'm hoping will resolve a lot of the issues we're having with bridging the communication gap I'm going to shift the AFK autoremove to 7 days and drop the invite rank required to Muinntir for the next month. If the calculations are correct ANU will be capped out at 500 people almost full time so there may be a queue to get in that room. RALL however should have plenty of space. 

To remain in ANU & RALL you must log into the WEBSITE every 7 days or forfeit your place in that room of the house. If you get removed from ANU or RALL simply log back into the site to be requeued for an invite.

It's my hope that we can keep these two rooms filled with the most active participants in our family. Thus allowing more people to attend the makeup guild bounties and rushes throughout the week if they miss one. Please note that Anu and Rall only have 500 slots available and we have 1,200 people active that want those slots so be sure that if you want to keep one of those 500 that you log into the WEBSITE each week.

P.S. I said WEBSITE not GAME. You must log into the WEBSITE. There is no date stamp in game so we can not use that as a measurement.

I know some people are going to Rage about this but let me remind you of a few very very very important face. 1. If you do not log into the website, you are not claiming participation in events. We want people who are claiming participation in events to be the ones in Anu and Rall. 2. If you do not log into the website, you do not know when WvW and PvE events are scheduled. We want people in Anu and Rall to form up groups and run together. These are LFG channels. 3. If you do not log into the website, We don't know your still playing. There is no way to tell in game and with a 24/7 community, 1,200 active players, and 5 guilds we cant monitor everyone's playtime all the time. 4. By reducing this to 7 days it ensures that the most active participants in the family have access to these 2 rooms which are largely based off heavy use of this site. Those that do not use the site will not find these 2 rooms as useful. 5. I'm allowing Rank 2: Muinntir people in our family to come into Anu and Rall and join the party. So before you enter excuse A here. If you can log into game you can log into a website. ONCE you log into the website if removed an invite will be resent by the next available elder. It's not a big deal. It's an AFK flag. The people we want in Anu and Rall are those that log in daily.

Hey Fog the only time I wsnt logged in is when my modem took a vacation for about 5 days that was horrible I was jones big time but all better for now, I will be on everyday. Thanks again and have a nice day Cya

I'm just not sure how anyone can object... really I believe that. Unless I am AFH (away from home) I log into the website every day just before I log into the game... I want to know what the family is up to - if anyone has started a thread where I might be able to either be helpful or just ramble like an idiot - sometimes the latter is the easiest :) ... and... there are numerous guilds that I have been a part of over my 20 years of gaming that require you to log into the guild website every week to remain in the guild. It is just good practice so that you know what the guild you belong to is doing. Safe journ all...

Let them rage. Forward their hate mail to me, I'll take your heat. ;) On a related note, since there's no "guild mail" or any other sort of cross-room, offline method of communication in-game, do you think it would be a good idea to have Elders occasionally making announcements about the purpose of the Anu room in /guild chat? The reason I bring that up, is because I will sometimes mention it in guild chat when folks are having LFG/LFM issues, then I spend 15-20m fielding questions about what I mean and how it works. Therefore, the assumption is that a lot of members either don't know about the specialty rooms, or don't know what they are for, therefore they are severely underutilized. As a matter of fact, most of the LFG communications I get, or are involved with, revolve around usage of the Friends list. Other than that, most just use the GW2LFG website. Since I'm a strong proponent of building groups in guild, I usually try to steer our folks away from that website and inform them of guild options that are available. Just some observations and thoughts. :)

Log in early and often! (Also post a suggestion on the GW2 forums to allow for larger guild sizes)

All the MOTD for Na Morrigan says, is "visit the website every 45 days, etc. etc", the one for Anu just reflects your original post. Neither of those have any relation to what I posted, other than being an in-game communication method that I totally glossed over, because ... oh, just enter some creative excuse here, I haven't had my coffee yet. ;) Either way, I still get asked questions because people don't know, so the current methods aren't working out so well, and since we've already talked about how hard it is to lead the horses to water (aka whip them into visiting the website, reading their emails, newsletters, etc), heheheh well I'm just trying to toss some practical ideas out there that spreads out the guild communication and administration load, a little. Players may not read websites or emails, but they do read /guild chat... ok, mostly. (and apparently I don't read MOTD's, but neither does anyone, which ironically was a frustrating lesson that I learned from my SWTOR failure) All I'm saying is that if this was Waelwulfas, that's what I'd be having my staff do, lessons from SWTOR learned. Personally, I don't mind the questions, so I'll help inform where and when I can.

That's Na Morrigan. This Policy ONLY affects ANU and Rall. This does not affect main rooms.

The people I want in these rooms DO READ the website, and DO READ the motd. Those who display they are too lazy to do so do not belong in this room of the house. These 2 rooms are highly centered around activities planned on this website.

We're getting our wires crossed. I'm trying to say that there is a problem with a lot of GSCH members not understanding the purpose of Na Anu, or that it even exists. The Anu room is severely underutilized and I was proposing a method that would fix that problem. However your last comment "These 2 rooms are highly centered around activities planned on this website." is making me wonder if **I've** misunderstood the purpose of Na Anu. I thought Na Anu was intended as a "tool" to allow members from the 3 main "home rooms" to have an easier way to meet up and form guild groups for dungeons, fractals, or whatever... I guess I think of it as an LFG room, so to speak. Is that not the case? Did I misunderstand something? Has it been re-purposed since the Guild Missions came out? If I'm wrong, then nevermind. If I'm correct, or mostly correct, then I was proposing a possible solution to fix the problem of the room being misunderstood and not used. (edit: and yes, that is a problem, because I field a lot of questions every time I talk about using Na Anu to help fill guild groups, especially with the newer members, but even a lot of vet members seem to be unaware)

Personally I would say 7 days is a bit too short. You can be a very active, everyday player that just goes on vacation to a place where they can't login and lose your spot, which as our family continues to grow will mean longer and longer queues. However I fully agree with the intention behind this change. Having lost some online time myself recently I chose to drop myself from Anu because I found that the only events I was attending were WvW based and as such I was unnecessarily taking up a spot in Anu. I feel that 10 - 14 days would be a more appropriate number given that we are approaching the vacation season and the houses are likely to be full a lot of the time soon.

Problem with 14 days is theres a wait list to get into anu. Thus the people on vacation prevent those who are on and want to help with the guild missions from getting in. With the 7 day policy weve managed to include more people in the events allowing muintir and higher in. When the people on vacation return and relog into the site they automatically get resubmitted for invite. Izzy, prissy, amd I clear the invite list about once an hour. It litterally pops up saying we need to invite you on the site. The 7 day policy gives us about a 20 slot opening in anu which ensures whoever is actively logging into to claim participation in events gets into those slots and those that go on vacation can be readded when they get back. This was my game, you all would be in 1 room. Adhd version: With 14 day policy only lorgair+ could be in anu and rall. Anu was capped and the waitlist to get in was several days long. With 7 day policy we freed up 20 slots and allowed muintir+ into the specialty rooms. There is now no waiting to get into the specialty rooms. GUilds are limited to 500 accounts, we have 1200 active accounts.

Another way to look at it is that if your going on vacation your not using that slot and you have others who would use it while your gone. Again, I will keep pressuring arenanet to increase the cap but as it stands right now unless we do the 7 day thing your brothers and sisters get left out.

I have a question concerning this: If I have the website remembering me, so I don't have to log in every time I visit the site, does that affect this? Do I physically have to log in, or is visiting the site enough?

it timestamps you every time you load a page on the site. (When you're logged in)

Ok, so as I read this: I am a member of my home guild (Morrigan) in addition to Rall and Anu (as was recommended as soon as I hit the appropriate rank) BUT I rarely WvW/PvP OR Dungeon Should I therefore perhaps resign from Anu & Rall to give space to others who would make more use of these specialist rooms than I?

Anu is PvE/Social, Rall is PvP/WvW you can remain in those 2 rooms as a LFG channel and as a secondary chance to attend the guild mission events if you can't make your main room's event.

I dropped out of the everything except Rall to make sure there was room for folks doing PVE and such. I'm going to stick to WvW for now.

Azakron ya need to keep a main room of the house. we have 3 there's plenty of room for everyone. (Well until we hit 1,500 actives)

I think it would be polite for me to drop out of Rall and Anu so others can get in. I'll let Jayven know, too.

I've done the same, I've dropped from Anu/Rall for others to get the invites they need :)
