Guild Wars 2: The Sanctum of Rall Situation

Hey Everyone,

I feel the need to address this so that there are no surprises. This week we will once again be losing some massive presence in WvW in the form of FIRE, MEGA (Likely), VEX (Likely), and IMPS. KOGS already left last week. The situation came to a head at the teamspeak meeting last week when someone by the name of Nex interrupted and told everyone to shut up.

Through all this somehow GSCH got thrown into the blame can for not being on Teamspeak and socializing with the rest of Sanctum of Rall. Thats why I am requesting that we all take part in the Teamspeak community as well. There are people who want to play with us but being we aren't taking part in the community at large we are isolated away from them. With this latest departure, there isn't much left on SOR that likes to WvW. At least we still got EVIL who we love running with Mistress and company.

I understand the road ahead won't be easy, we will be outmanned, outgunned and outlasted on every front. I wont blame any of you if you wish to go to another server for funner times with a more competitive environment. I completely understand as just as I told Phonzo, Spartan, Foxy, Walk the Talk and Aingeal, you need to follow your passion. Gaiscioch is not limited to a game or server. We are a real life community more than anything. You are still family and always will be family. I don't care if you're on SOR or BG or JQ or wherever. What I care about is that you're happy.

For those that are staying

Thank you, please remember that Gaiscioch is keeping a candle lit for Roger. No matter what goes down on SOR we will be left with the pieces until ArenaNet blows the candle out. Times are going to be hard in the road ahead and I won't lie, they will likely be lonely. What I want and NEED all of you to do is not focus on the score at the end of the week. Focus on the change in the score while you're on the battlefield. Even if you raise that score by 5 points by taking a supply camp it's something. Focus on the small victories and as we do so they will snowball into bigger victories. Gaiscioch has never been about being the best, we have always been about being together, making friends and epic memories. We do make a difference every time we are out there and thats all that matters. We don't have 24/7 coverage and I'm not going to ask you to play 24/7. Hell I play twice a week for a few hours if i'm lucky.

The good news is Issue 3 is out, Travel is done, and most of my major projects are off my plate or soon to be off my plate so I may have a few more hours a week to do things like play games. These past 2 months have killed me being so distant but it was all stuff that had to be done. The last hurdle is the State of the Family & Birthday Party on Nov 8th and then it should be smooth sailing through March. Lets start picking up those pieces and figure out what future we want to create.

Again, please do your best to try to use teamspeak. We're going to need every last person to know us and know what we stand for and what we do. I have tried my best not to force the issue on you guys but it's starting to hurt us more than help us. I need our community to mingle with the rest of the community. That's the only way we will unite the server.

P.S. Any Songwriters / Musicians out there wanna take a crack at a SOR theme song? Seriously. Would love to have a song that writes Roger's name in legend. 

I am guilty of this at times. However, I belong to a family friendly guild so I don't have to listen to profanity and people being jerks. That is not always, or even often, the case on the TS server but I never know what I am going to get. Certain commanders can be foul mouthed or just jerks. I play this for fun and that isn't fun for me. I will give it a shot again when running with the guild though.

If you find someone that's being a foul mouthed jerk report it to me or Sskriptko and just don't follow them. The majority of the people are actually quite kind.

Hey Fog,  You have no worries about me leaving SoR, like you said if Arenanet shuts down SoR then I guess we're moving. But for now I am here to stay with GSCH Family to help out others in the family and to play have fun and memories to talk about, Even thou I play mostly PvE I am surfing our sites for making my warrior a WvW player/commander even if I have to have 2 sets of armor and weapons not a problem. I do need to bend some ears of others players who are good at WvW. I have increased my WvW time. I have really enjoyed GSCH since I joined and I will download TS tonight and install for the next run I do.

Looking forward to coming back to GW2 and helping in WVW

A minor participant at best, I do enjoy WvW and I love being a part of both GSCH and SoR and have no intention of leaving either. I have no issue about making the switch over to TS and will do so today.

Summer

I'm sorry to say that I made the difficult decision to leave SoR. I transferred along with KOGS to IoJ several weeks ago. I only really play wvw now, and the situation on SoR had deteriorated to the point where I was no longer enjoying the game. Too many times I found myself practically alone on a borderland. My options were really only transfer or quit the game. Hopefully, the server can rebuild to the point where SoR becomes competitive once more. Even so, I'll try to join in SORC events when I can. 

P.S. Fog, you may not care if some of us choose to wvw on JQ or IoJ, but even you must agree defecting to BG is unforgivable ;)

That would be pretty low Osu ;) wouldn't expect that from a true Gaiscioch :p.

TS downloaded, installed, and working... I think! 

I have been on SoR since day one. I chose this server because some former guildies from GW1 did. I knew nothing about the history behind the server. We tried bringing the old guild together but it seemed that our gaming times just were not working out as well as they did in GW1. I then joined GSCH because some others suggested it (Thank you Bull! ;) ). It was after joining GSCH that I discovered the history behind SoR and I felt that I was in the right place. As I started doing more with the guild it quickly became apparent that my feelings were correct.

As I see it there are a couple different main playing styles in this game. You have your Elite (for lack of a better term) players. They're the type of player that wants to know every aspect of everything thing in the game from skills, armor, weapons and how they all interact to make them the best they can be. These players, in my opinion tend to migrate toward the PvP/WvW parts of the game. No matter what portion of the game they choose they strive to be the best they can be. They also tend to spend the most time ingame.

Then you have your casual gamers. They also strive to to be the best they can be but tend to spread out into more aspects of the game. You will find them in dungeons, WvW, and PVE. They know their armor, their skills, and their capabilities in each.

In GSCH I see both styles and both styles are very helpful and welcoming to others regardless of skill levels.

Then there is me. I consider myself a LAZY gamer! I love the game but just can't seem to bring myself to want to excel at the finer points of the game. I tend to try stuff but I don't go out of my way to really research what works and what doesn't work. I find that due to my laziness I don't really know one trait from another, one skill, one weapon, or one piece of armor upgrade from another. But ya know what? I still find a way to have fun. That's because despite my shortcomings, GSCH has still made me feel welcome and a part of the family.

If using TS will help to make the rest of SoR as awesome as GSCH I would be a greedy old fool to not give it a try.

I wanted to add there here as well. Because I think it should be said. And I do not intend to offend anyone, I chose my words carefully but someone will probably be offended. This is the internet. 

As someone who hits up WvW when my schedule allows, I have no clue why there is so much animosity over a flipping game. I don't enjoy WvW and it has absolutely nothing to do with preferring pve, WvW is too much pve in my opinion. I hang out in spvp more because I want to actually fight people. Not knocking on doors and killing mindless keep lords who I can pew pew and moving on. I was out for 4 hours on Thursday with Fin and you know how many opposing forces we encountered? A party of 5. Granted, we weren't a large group either. But for 4 hours all we did was pve. And let me tell you, I hated every minute of it. I only went out because there has been a rally cry for the guild to step up and get more involved in WvW. I'll keep doing my part - blowing half of the only day off I get per week doing something I absolutely abhor because it's what was asked of me by my friend, and guild leader, and what the server needs to rebuild and get back into the action.

However - let me add one thought. I've seen people badgering each other in wvw map chat for not taking their commands. And I've seen too many group/event announcements using the word "commands". There is no way under heaven or above hell I will ever follow a leader who tells me I need to be on coms to hear commands. Being on coms to stay coordinated or to make communications easier to one thing, but commands? I have purposefully avoided following many commanders for this one single reason. Yes, maybe it's just a bad choice of words, but beyond that it's also the attitude. By changing the approach, maybe less people will be turned off by the aspect of following certain commanders. A leader should lead by example, and too many of SoR's commanders fail at this. 

Fogh I'm just coming back after being away for a long time and I want to say thank you for being so understanding and you're a great leader. I'm going to get back in WvW and I'm going to fight for SoR. Thanks for always making GSCH and GW2 a wonderful place to play for all of use.

I wonder if we can setup "Starter support" for family members from other games just starting out in GW2? Im thinking stuff such as bags, food and oils, lowbie equipment at level intervals and most importantly guides to basic builds to their preferred class/play styles. 

Well bags we have plenty of. Loot is never in short order in our family :)

Downloaded Teamspeak.  Not sure which server to connect to or whatnot.  I suppose all will become clear in time. :)

On the homepage of gaiscioch.com and on sanctumofrall.com there's a teamspeak button. Just click it then save the connection.

I am new to Gaiscioch and to SoR, so please excuse the noob question.

We have TS for server coms, but what is Raid Call supposed to be used for? If everyone is hanging out in RC, which is populated by only guildies, why would anyone want to hang out in TS and expose themselves to any of the nonsense that happens on TS sometimes? Am I just missing the point of RC?

Before I came to SoR, I was on Tarnished Coast, a T1 server. We used Mumble and all of the guilds on Mumble had their own channel for conducting dungeon crawls or guild events. Despite the fact that we were on our own channel, everyone still considered us part of the community because we were there, on Mumble, for everyone to see. Hiding out in RC is not going to make our presence felt on SoR.

Teamspeak is for WvW coordination. RaidCall is our families voice com. We play more that gw2. When we do dungeons general exploring hanging out with the family etc. We use raidcall. When we wvw and want to coordinate with the rest of the server we use teamspeak.
