I need some help to understand sigils before I waste a lot of gold.  It says that you cannot stack sigils of the same type.  I found on the wiki a listing of sigils identified by type.  About the "Stacking" part, what does this mean exactly.  A weapon set has 2 sigils. 2 weapon sets have 4 sigils.  2 underwater weapons have 4 sigils.  So, I can have 8 sigils on weapons maximum at a time.  I can equip at most one weapon set at a time (2 sigils). How does the type limitation fit into this?  Does it mean only one of a type in a weapon set?  Can I have one of a type in a weapon set and one of the same type in the other weapon set?  Any clarification of this will be greatly appreciated.

First whatever you are holding at the time are the active 2 sigils your character is using.
when you swap weapons you no longer get the benefit of certain sigils.

You cannot use the same sigil 2 times in the same weapon set like the sigil of force on
your main and off hand for 2 5% damage increases. but you can use use one sigil of force in one set of
weapons and then one in the set you would swap to for a constant 5% damage increase.

so Basically you cannot use the same sigil in both hands because you will only get the
benefit of one not the other. but a sigil on crit with a sigil of force works normally,

Hope fully that clears up some of the confusion. or makes it worst.

Thank you very much.  That makes the way clear for me to go shopping.

These rules confuse me too.   For some of the expensive combos I was thinking of equipping a cheap weapon with minor or major sigil combos and see how they perform before I invest in them.
