A Trend I have Noticed with Open World ESO Events

I think there is some confusion on what rank a boss mob really is with the current descriptions.  Pretty much they have bars that look about the same other than the add little boxes on the end.  Part of the description talks about the length of the bar.  There is no difference in the bar length, or at least not much.  It's the little boxes accenting the ends of the bar that matter - 1, 2 or 3 boxes.

So the trend I have seen now that we have a lot more events like my Map Romp on Tuesdays, is that everyone is claiming these bosses differently.

Dolmens and World Bosses are easy to claim, they have their own icon.  3 Dolmens and 6 world bosses per zone.  Some people are not properly marking world bosses with the world boss icon.

Now the first confusing part is there is the icon for delves, but we seem to all be trending to mark we did a delve plus add a boss.  Now you don't get credit for the delve without killing the boss, so I'm not sure if we claim both or not.  Anyway, if we also claim the boss it better be the wimpy green head because these guys can be soloed since they are pretty much only decorated with one little box on the health bar.

Public dungeon bosses need a group.  Most are two boxes, but I think they sneak in some with only one box decorating the bar.  So we have to watch these.  I have claimed this with the orange head boss due to most have two boxes decorating the bar.

Only thing I have ever claimed as a the red head is the group challenge boss who has three boxes on his bar.

Seeing that we have people claiming even delve bosses as orange instead of wimpy green and then others not even claiming above green for even the tougher bosses.  This really needs some better clarification.

Again to sum up what I think it should be, and I could be wrong, is the following:

Health bar has one little box on either side - Green

Health bar has two little boxes on either side - Orange

Health bar has three little boxes on either side - Red

I have not seen any other major difference in the health bar other than these boxes unless they are pulling a fast one in trials, and I haven't got there yet.  =)

Thanks for posting that Fog and talking to me.  I know there are links to help show things.  Okay, so to sum up this is the way it goes if you complete an entire map:

6 Delves - Torch icons, do NOT claim a boss

6 World Bosses - Skull icons, do NOT claim anything else with these

3 Dolmens - Anchor icon, stand alone, do not claim anything else with these

Public Dungeon - only multi-tiered item

  • Torch - only if your event completed the quests that give completion credit for the dungeon
  • Green Head - only for the 4 to 5 bosses for Vanquisher and Conquerer achievements and if the boss has two little boxes on either side of the head
  • Orange Head - for the Group Challenge boss who usually has 3 little boxes on his bar though double check this one as well to verify if it is two or three to mark appropriately

Red Head pretty much hasn't shown up in live with the super bar stretched on the screen when you target them, so not sure if they are still in the game, but they are RARE if they are.

So even I was not doing these right, but hopefully this helps us all get on the same page and remember if you can't remember, there are little links by each to pop up the info and a picture of what the bar looks like on the boss.

Briseadh, The Red is definitely there. If you want I can take you to crows wood to show you where he spawns. He eats new players for breakfast.

since we are talking about claiming stuff here, I know this is for AvA but Fog is there a reason why defence tick are no longer claimable

Because people weren't claiming them properly. There is no clear indication that a keep is defended. I had originally built it to be when you completely wipe the enemies off of the keep and the battle is over. People were claiming them for every tick. There's too much confusion and not enough following the guidelines. So I removed them rather than trying to explain it over and over again. That said I may bring them back in the future

I'm curious, would ESO's add-on API support the features needed to write an add-on that correctly identifies everything that we want to claim?  Something that would write to a log file, then the event leader can use it to more correctly identify their objectives and times, etc., would be what I'm envisioning. (and no Fog, I'm not saying you should write it, we have plenty with that kind of knowledge here, I am sure)

Health Bars: Obviously I can't test it since I have no Vet toons that can go to Craglorn, but with various UI element add-ons that replace or alter the default 'target health' bar, will using those default bars be reliable for everyone?  Based on the default bar examples given above, there's no difference in overall width, of the UI element, they just add extra art to denote the various Boss types to maintain the default UI element width.  The default art is what these add-ons will remove or replace.

But, I can still claim for Craglorn events where I "lead" the group by running around from one anom to another and get more points in one night than I can for a week of AvA events?

I just want to be clear on how I should claim them. If I ever lead a Craglorn event, that is.

I tried to bring this issue to light over a month and a half ago, and it is a large part of why I no longer lead events. I'm glad it is finally receiving some attention.

Guys,

I made this video over a year ago, it's in the Tutorials section of the site and discusses how to use the leadership system. If I could get people to actually watch it then we would still have defenses in the system and Tricks questions would have been answered before he ever posted.

1. Defenses should only be claimed if the assaulting party has completely been wiped off the objective and the objective returns to a safe state.

2. Public Dungeon Bosses are only to be claimed in the event that they do not have a parent event associated with them. For example if you are doing a dungeon almost every mob has the squares next to his name. You do not claim every mob because the dungeon credit considers that in it's score. Dolmen's are the same way, you don't claim a mob, you claim the Dolmen.

I watched the Leadership System video when I first joined the guild and when I was leading events before.

I went back and watched it again after my name was specifically listed in someone's post.

I didn't see anything that explained what to claim when "leading" an anomaly farm run, Tower grind group, etc. Although the only leadership is inviting more bodies to help kill quicker.

I just want to make sure that if I start a farming group, I claim the right level boss for the grind and claim the right amount of points for them.

In the past the anomalies were claimed as red bosses

Anomaly is the same as a Dolmen and event leaders should only claim those, if their 'family event' team is the largest force present when the anomaly event completes (in other words, you can't follow a public zerg around with a GSCH group and then claim the objectives).

Claimable "Bosses" have very specific graphics, if the objective does not have the correct graphic, then it should not be claimed as one.

AvA Defense:

  • A single claimable defense starts when the objective is marked as contested and ends when it's no longer contested.
  • If the enemy captures the objective, then it is not claimable as a successful defense.

Its really no different from claiming offensive objectives, just in reverse.  Time spent on a defense is irrelevant, just as it is for a keep take.

(god I hope I got those correct, lol)
