If I'm not mistaken, they're also giving 500 crowns to the free players. I'd recommend purchasing the Orsinium DLC since the anniversary event is in effect until November 21st. Good way to level quicker and gather resources as the nodes are doubled.

Yes you do get 500 crowns. I used my crowns to by the starter pack which came with a companion, a mount, an experience scroll, and some other stuff.
