Darkening Deeps Normal (22-23) : A Tank's Perspective

By: Aife

A summary of the bosses and tanking methods involved with Darkening Deeps

Boss 1: Difficulty 1/5

Alchemist Braxtepel

This boss is quite easy to down, and is very much tank and spank. There are three mobs Brax, Mursh and Squersh.

Focus either Mursh or Squersh down first after you pull. Make sure that your group knows which one to down. Pull Mursh and Squersh away from Brax, almost right back to the pile of rubbish. Brax will be static and not move but he does cast an AOE ontop of either Mursh or Squersh that they can be moved out off.

After they are down Brax will become mobile TAUNT him quickly as he will run for your healer typically. Tank and spank.

Boss 2: Difficulty 2/5

Michael Bringhurst

This is a very mobile fight so as a tank you will be jousting quite regularly depending on the DPS of your party.

Talk to Michael in the cage and he will be set free, then he will move to the middle of the area and evolve into a werewolf. Be sure to pull him from this position with MELEE ONLY. Do not ranged pull and do not let your party ranged. The trick with this fight is to move him out of the moonlight. If he stays in the light he gets a stacking buff, when it gets to 14 you are dead.

So Melee him from the start, back peddle out of the light until the stacks start going down and DPS him. Now after about a minute he will AOE fear everyone and then run back into the light. Your job as a tank is to push into the light and be ready to pull him with melee again. DONT RANGED. If you range he does a massive AOE dot that will wipe your group. Then just pull him back and do the same again.

Boss 3: Difficulty 4/5

Tegenar Deepfang

Now this fight is probably the harder one to do, just because of the adds and spike damage that she does to you. This fight I found is all about cool downs and using them at the right time.

So when you pull Deepfang tank her up the back of her hollow. Face her away from your party as she does some massive frontal AOE. Throughout the fight she covers one of your party in webs. DPS THIS DOWN FAST, especially if its a healer. This web totally disables the player so DPS be mindful.

She will also spawn lots of adds throughout the fight so an offtank is nice or if you have a healer and a support then tank them all.

Another thing to note is that she does have a DoT I believe that ticks quite hard so dispelling is important. Blowing my cooldown was necessary on the two occasions I did the boss (Paladin 8 pointer) due to the healers being webbed and not being able to dispell.

Boss 4: Difficulty 0/5

Council Geldo

Three bosses, focus them in this order, Incinerator Gerbik, Warlord Swedge, High Shaman Nuggo.

They all cast different abilities on their deaths which are really quite negligible but this order should provide the easiest solution to downing them.

The reason being that Gerbik just drops an AOE down on his death. Swedge just reduces the damage taken by the rest of the council. Nuggo just puts a buff that increases the councils damage.

So doing it Gerbik > Swedge > Nuggo makes it easier on your healers.

This is not a definitive guide and will most likely contain miss information and mistakes. This is also for the low level Darkening Deeps (22-23)
