Novakri's All-Inclusive Guide To T1/T2 Dungeon Requirements

By: Novakri

Hello! Please support me by "liking" my Guide on the official forums!
http://forums.riftgame.com/rift-general-discussions/dungeons-raids/254743-guide-t1-t2-dungeon-requirements.html#post3116876

Introduction

So, you've just hit 50. Congratulations! It's a whole new game from here, and it can be a bit daunting. You've heard people talk about running "T1s" and "T2s", and you want to try your hand at it. So you get 50 Hit, and... it still won't let you queue! Well, the game has some "hidden" requirements and numbers for your class. Here, you'll find a breakdown of those requirements and how to calculate them.

The New Stats

First off, you have some new stats to consider when gearing. These are Hit, Focus, and Toughness. When you hover over these stats, the tooltip is very misleading! Those are suggested values, but not actually requirements. Now, I'm not saying hit the bare minimum and run with that - those values are suggested for a reason. If I pop into a T1 and I see that the tank has 0 Toughness, I start praying real hard.

Let's look at what these new stats do.

Toughness reduces the amount of damage you take from non-player critical hits. This stat is important for all tanks.

Hit increases your chance to hit with physical attacks. This stat is important for Warriors and Rogues.
***This stat is NOT required for Clerics, because Faith in Action converts your Focus into Hit.

Focus reduces the chance that your spells will be resisted. This stat is important for Mages and Clerics.
***Clerics who only heal do not need Focus as heals can never be resisted.

The suggested values for these new stats are as follows:

Dungeon Tier 1: 50
Dungeon Tier 2: 100
Expert Rift: 100
Raid Rift: 150
Raid Tier 1: 200
Raid Tier 2: 300

The "Hidden" Stat Requirement

There is a requirement for the LFG Tool that is not well-known. You must have achieved a certain score in your class' primary stat. The primary stats for classes are:

Warrior - Strength
Rogue - Dexterity
Cleric - Wisdom
Mage - Intelligence

So, essentially, you will need to have this stat at a certain number as well as meet the Toughness/Focus/Hit requirements. Later, we will discuss the breakdown of those requirements.

Calculating Your Stats

The Character Window is not very clear on how to determine if you meet the requirements based on your class' main stat. I had a problem with this a few months ago and had a long discussion with a GM about it. I will share what he said with you:

"The total on your character sheet includes gear, base stat, buffs, and talents. The number the LFG system is checking is only the amount added from gear; the character sheet currently does not display this number specifically. ... We are currently working on this to be more transparent and the number needed to reflect what displays on your character sheet."

Take heart in knowing that they are going to make this guide obsolete. For now, though, I'll help you find out what your ACTUAL stat is. The example I will be using is Wisdom, as I am a cleric.

First, let me reiterate that the number displayed on your stat window is INCORRECT. The number displayed includes buffs from your skill tree, from other powers, etc. These do not count.

Instead, to determine your actual score, hover over your gear. See those stat bonuses?

Those are what the game counts. You'll have to whip out our calculator and go through every single piece of gear equipped, adding up the bonuses. Don't forget bonuses from runes and your Planar Focus!

OK, so the Stats window says I have a Wisdom score of 335. But when I add up the bonuses from my gear, my actual, unbuffed Wisdom turns out to be 240. That's a huge difference!

In most cases, your Planar Focus will make or break your ability to queue. If you find that you're falling short of the requirements, upgrade your focus or add Runes before you buy new gear. Gear will get replaced very quickly once you start running instances, and Runes are relatively cheap!

So, now that you have your number, it's time to see if you meet the requirements.

Known Issues

(As of 9/11/11)

There is currently a bug where if you meet the requirements for DPS but not Tanking, the LFG Tool will let you queue for both anyway. It will only block you if you only queue for the role you don't meet the requirements for.

Sometimes the LFG Tool won't let you in regardless of your ability to meet the requirements. If this happens, relog.

Conclusion

So, there you have it. Now you know what stats you need in order to queue for T1/T2! So, get out there and have fun!

If you have any questions, comments, or corrections, please e-mail Novakri (Faeblight Shard) in game or send me a PM on the forums.

Thank you for reading and I hope this answered any questions you may have had!
