Why Sanctum Of Rall, & Why Gaiscioch?

When my wife and I had to find a new MMO because of City of Heroes shutdown, we decided to head to GW2, despite the indirect loss of CoH for more server space dedicated GW2. Since we had avoided GW2 for a few months, the servers were established and there was a handy wiki where we could research them all. Knowing we would prefer a server with a heart and not just some generic name, we saw a server with a simple note next to it: “Named for Roger "Oldroar" Rall, a fan who died before the game was released.”
That was enough. We wanted to play on a server named for a fan, a player, rather than a dev, or just some random locale. Before joining, I also went and checked out the Gaiscioch website. After a little research, I knew we made a good call.
I then proceeded to game on GW2 for YEARS without ever asking to join GSCH or ask to have my own Guild, The Gaslight Society, join the Tuatha. I’d see the GSCH tag sometimes and grin, but I was still not a member. I got into WvW more and started coordinating through the Sanctum of Rall website, and still didn’t sign up.
The more I saw, the more I played with GSCH folks, the more I decided to join was a good idea, finally doing so in 2016.
So why’d I even bother after skirting around forever? Why not hang out on the fringes and just link up on occasion? Because of the people. They mean it when they want to help. They mean it when they will not tolerate in-fighting. They mean it when they want to have fun together. I have a blast playing with GSCH, and I hope everyone whom joins does too.
