The past weeks we have progressed and touched on many different parts of the Black Desert Online environment.

We entered into the Node Wars adventure, trying during beta test, without much success even with support from our Tuatha Relic.

We have tackled XL Guild Bosses (3-day scrolls), an adventure for those who participated. A bit like our own little mini-world boss.

We started guild crafting, we have had a guild house for 3wks now. The first time we won the auction at 70M and the second at 90M, the second time we were introduced to guild taxes. Which we hoped to offset with guild crafting, and has proven difficult. There is a lot of opportunity with the house, future expansions allowing for building a Guild Boat and taking to the high seas with a Sea Monster Battle-ready warship.

We have struggled with a lot of these activities due to the state of high-active participants. While they are fun, they do require a lot of participation, and are costly for the guild and the individual in time and silver. Our Tuatha guilds, Relic, has recently begun a recruitment drive and offered to take on any of our active players that wished to move over to a higher pop guild. So we have a decision as individuals to make, we stay in the family, but you get to choose if you would rather run in a high-activity guild or continue on with GSCH as it stands.

TLDR:

GSCH has been invited to join Relic, an active Tuatha guild on BalenosO1. They run pvp nights, boss scrolls, world bosses, Valencia missions, guild boss events, and an active player base. We will be keeping GSCH open for people who would prefer casual play, with leveling opportunities, crafting information, and our friendly atmosphere (with Gaiscioch events). You are welcome in either place!

If you wish to join Relic, please tell an officer if you can, then un-guild (front page on guild tab). Wait 24 hours. Then, request an invite through Meaghs, Sassi, or Drell. Please contact Ludoki, Selrina, Seawind, or Audrys in-game or on discord for help. If you wish to stay in GSCH you are more than welcome to! We hope to provide one guild (Relic) for active pvp and guild content AND one guild (GSCH) for more casual leveling and general gameplay/crafting. We are all one family in this social adventure, we are one family!

Sadly, like other current Korean-developed games, Pearl has apparently decided to hop on the "force our players into large guilds" bandwagon.  (I know, I know, but  while100 players isn't large to us, to the rest of the world, it's actually considered "large" and most guilds struggle with keeping those numbers.)

Here in Gaiscioch, we have a different approach to how we band together for gaming.  Most players band together for a single game, maybe make a couple of friends, then when they are done, they move on to another game and another guild.  When people think of "What makes a guild?", that's what they envision.

Gaiscioch's social adventure program is designed for those few who feel a guild should go beyond just existing "in-game", or only in just one game.  GSCH is a gaming community that tries to break that stigma of in-game guilds and bond it's members together, across the internet and into whatever games they want to play.

It's hard.  It's a constant fight against both developers and players, in trying to change their points-of-view and perspective on the importance of community.

I've been gaming online since 1992.  Out of all of the thousands of players I have met, on a personal level, I still talk to only two: a close friend and the woman I live with.  Up until I came into contact with Gaiscioch a couple of years ago, I had never kept contact with anyone I gamed with, for more than a couple of months.

Now, several years later, I've kept personal contact with several hundred and across many games.

So yea, Fog's crazy idea of a "persistent world" gaming community does work.  I saw the need for it several years ago, I tried, but couldn't make it work and through not just his talent, but his persistence of sheer will, he's made it work.

heheh "persistent world"  hm, could we actually call it a Massively Multiplayer Gaming Community?

Anyway, my point of that was to reassure anyone who is concerned about joining another guild, whether it's Relic or someone else, or even some other game.  The name tag that you wear in a game, doesn't matter to us.  If you participate in any activities that we have, even if you just hang out with us, then you're still considered as a Gaiscioch and always welcome to join us for play in any game, and yes, even the game for which you wear a different guild tag.

Don't let anyone try to make you feel differently or unwelcome.

I'll second what Sekkerhund says - I have a lot of friends in this family and a lot of them I don't play with at the moment due to games they are in. Some I have come to play with again over time. It's been an interesting, nearly 7 years here. Due to life I've only met one person IRL, but who knows what the future holds. Only God knows that and He likes keeping me busy with other cool things. ::chuckles::

I know I've been trying to figure out this guild crafting thing. We have info of what five things make a trade goods thing we need for the overall thing we actually can make and with workers we got a lot done. Now the weird thing is I got all the food made it said it needed and the tried to do a combine with the clearance permits we had, but it had everything grayed out when in the guild hall trying to do the processing. However, we have been sending workers there that have been bit by bit getting the thing together.

Yeah the taxes are not overly crazy for the way money is in this game, but when you spend money to try something and have to still pay taxes daily, it got screwy fast! It is definitely doable, but so far rather confusing as we really figure out how it works.

I am actually glad I did wind up stepping down from leading. Seems that as soon as I also quit my part time job, life wound up way busier in all sorts of good ways. I actually have plenty of crazy things going on outside the family with writing, editing, church academy where I teach art, going to start a monthly newsletter this year, and probably help with science and tutoring needs as needed. Yes, art and science. ;)

Anyway, I'm not sure what I am doing because my timing can wind up a quick logon for daily goodies to hours of whatever. A lot of times I'm cooking gobs of one thing, processing stuff, and even got back to fishing more while working on the writing projects in my bucket. Lots of afk in the mix.

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D

Relic has been good fun for me the past couple months.  Meaghs, Sassi, and Drell work hard to provide a structure for everyone, and make sure everyone interested is set up in a reliable static scroll group.  They help anyone who asks for guidance with a plan for gear development, too.

Looking forward to seeing anyone around who decides to join.  Always eager for more hands to help with the guild missions, too.  They try to max out the list every day.

I've enjoyed a few days getting to know and chatting with a few folks in their Discord.  They've been quite helpful and I've already done more world bosses in a couple days then my whole time in the game so far.  Quite fun.

At some point, we slow-poke casuals will be of a decent level to help on the higher paying guild missions, but tbh, I fear that our infrequent logins may not make a lot of difference.

IMO, there really is no simple solution, because like most Korean MMO games, BDO is designed to require high-activity and long play-times from its players.  Which I find ironic, considering they have laws that are supposed to limit play times for online gaming (unless they've tossed those out).

One option that I can think of, might be for Fog to help with a forum recruitment post and fish around for like-minded folks who are stuck in the same few-members-in-a-large-guild-size boat, and might find our overall community ideals and resources to be appealing to them.  A lot of times, players will get in a rut and can't see outside of the game that they are currently playing, and then something happens and BAM!  They're suddenly disconnected from all the friendly contacts that they've made, because one or the other have either left the game or moved to another guild.

Which is why we created the Social Adventures program, to help bridge that gap, so that might be appealing to some.
