Tamrielic name: Chases-the-Shadows
Skill lines: Assassination, Shadow

Sylus is a former member of the fabled Shadowscales, an order of Argonian Assassins who are chosen from the moment they hatch. Those born under the sign of the Shadow in Black Marsh are taken as hatchlings to the Dark Brotherhood and trained in the art of stealth, deception, and combat. A select few, however, gain abilities beyond those of the blade or bow. They can manipulate the shadows themselves both for defense and to strike at their foes. These gifted ones are the Shadowscales.
Sylus, seeing a greater purpose for himself than to become an assassin-for-hire, escaped from the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary at a young age. This action immediately put his life in great danger, as every member of the Dark Brotherhood within Black Marsh was asked to hunt him down.
Sylus escaped into Morrowind, where his people had a seen long history of slavery and ill-treatment at the hands its Dunmer inhabitants. However, in recent years the act of enslaving Argonians had been banned, due to the mutual truce that was put in place upon the formation of the Ebonheart Pact some years before.
Sylus lived away from the cities during this time, gaining notoriety among the citizens of Morrowind by raiding bandit camps and restoring peace to the trade roads. Merchants travelling the roads knew of the argonian who made bandits fear for their lives, and gave him the name "Chases-the-Shadows", as he did not make his true name known.
Shortly after one of his encounters with a bandit group, Sylus happened upon a group of hooded figures standing in a circle around a stone altar, upon which a bloody corpse of some kind lay. They were quite a distance away, but he could hear bits and pieces of their chant:
"... Coldharbour ... its own image!
God of ... we offer ... victim to you!
...power of innocent ... bring forth ... become one!
Bind this world ... chains! Draw it closer ... your realm!
Just then, a booming, deep voice could be heard over the entire area:
"I will dominate this world, and all others in time! The strong should always command the weak!"
What could only be called a portal opened in the sky and a giant mass of chains flew down, slamming into the rocks and gripping the area around the altar. A great flash of pale light engulfed the area, and hordes of daedra and dremora began to appear, accompanied by a large, grotesque figure which must have been the leader. The invasion of Molag Bal's forces had begun.
Sylus wasted no time in escaping, knowing that he could not hope to fight so many enemies at once. He watched from a distance as the main force of the daedra slew families and burned farms and villages. Fighting these new enemies where he could ambush them in smaller numbers, Sylus hoped for the day to come quickly when he could join together with other heroes to face this new threat.
