Am I doing OK or is a new strategy needed?

WvW is lots of fun.

I am wondering how well I am doing as a Warrior in WvW and if I am helping our team as much as I can.  I have tried 6 builds (damage and balanced) and have spent lots of in-game and real money outfitting them all.  I have read about warrior builds and tactics for many hours.

My current build is the best I have found for my personal skill level and playstyle but is very tedious to play.  With it I get the highest average kills-to-death ratio I have experienced so far (11.4 kills per death).  The build is:
20-20-0-10-20
I use sword/warhorn with Mobile Strikes for mobility and switch main weapon combos situationally.
axe/mace     (mostly)
axe/axe       (in massive mobile battles)
rifle              (when needed)
Axe/axe and greatsword (for battles where mobility doesn't help, like in the Lord's room :-)

I swap traits on-th-fly to suite weapon swaps, which is tiresome but necessary with this build.
I also swap skills situationally.

My armor is 3 pieces of power-toughness-vitality + 3 pieces of Knight's, all exotics with Soldier runes
Trinkets are berseker necklace, all others are Knight's, all exotics
Weapons are all exotics (berserker mains and Knight's sword & warhorn)

my most successful playstyle is highly moblile, I run past the enemy tanks and target rangers & squishies.

Problems which I cannot seem to overcome are:
(1) I seldom win 1-on-1 fights with anyone.
(2) If I get targeted and spiked, I die.
(3) once I get CC'd, I die.  I have tried to resolve this many ways, but no solution yet.
(4) anytime I try to challenge a front-line melee, I die.

(5) food healing helped alot, the nerf to food healing gets me killed much more often.
(6) though I need to stay mobile & twitchy, my keyboard-mouse skills are not great, so I get frustrated.

Questions I have are:
(1) Am I doing OK and don't realize it?
(2) Should I start over with another class which has:
      - better survivablilty
      - requires less running around
      - would be more beneficial to our team
(3) Should I revamp my Warrior for less damage and more tanky?  Warning - lots of complaints in warrior forums about low survivability even with tanky builds.

Any input is greatly appreciated.
Bryan

Bryan, running an average of 11.4 kills to 1 death sounds pretty good to me. Keep in mind we're currently in the top tier of WvW, so you're going up against the "best" servers currently. Personally, I can't play my Warrior properly in WvW, so hats off to you!

Doesn't sound like you need to change anything there man. On the scale of fighting we're at in this tier of WvW, build and class choices will matter, but won't give you a magic pill. Tactics and staying tight with the group will however. You've already had the foresight to bring a ranged weapon, so you're pretty set at least (though see below on that thought). As long as you're happy with what you got, I'd say stick with it. The only thing I can think of is bring a longbow with you as well for the portal bombs we do during roaming. That way you can drop a fair bit of ranged AOE down if you feel it'll help. I'm by no means an expert, the Warrior was my first 80 and I haven't gotten to play it as much as I'd like, but if it helps you here is the build I run. Healing Shouts Warrior Please know that I'm no expert on the class though and this is just something that I found works for me.

Bryan, I feel your pain. Warrs are challenging (for me in wvw). I tried berserker but the survivability is awful so I'm going with a tanky shout healer now. I would suggest putting 30 into defense so you can get either spiked armor or defy pain. Spiked armor is great if your plan is to charge into enemy lines. Defy pain is good if need help getting out of trouble. Balanced stance is an excellent skill for wvw as everyone loves to CC.

While I don't play a warrior, I began noticing that sometimes a build that is great for zerg/big fights will be lackluster when dueling or roaming. I don't know if you saw this on or not, but I think this is a good roaming/dueling warrior build. It has a lot of mobility, a lot of toughness and -condition duration wich may help you against cc. Maybe it will not be as good when in big group fights, but it might be woth a look. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWBOuzurn1U This guys has other videos that are really interesting as well. Hope this helps. :)
