been gone from gw2 since January and well when I logged today I found a lot of changes that scared me somewhat. trying to rethink my builds just had me at a lost and well figured I would ask here for a few builds to get me back in the run of things
I run a guardian, use to have the hammer build and staff for support
and I run an engi that use to be a flamethrower jug and e-gun healer
so any thoughts on builds that run like that or how I should try and retrait would be much appreciated
Most of the people we are fighting these days are zerker builds, so they hit hard and die quick, I haven't really changed my guardian at all and I run the same as you a hammer/staff support guard. Guardians really haven't had all that many changes mostly the changes are an attempt by ANet to get guards to use spirit weapons. I have heard the spirit hammer is really nice but other than that all the changes are modest and safe and just won't get people to change (in my opinion).
Check your rune sets they dropped the boon duration so you may want to head in some other direction, also your staff and hammer can have two sigils now.
I updated my guardian build for WvW (group play) and have been having fun with her. Jordan posted an updated build on the SOR website for guardians (0,0, 6,4,4) with play tips and video. My survivability seems to be good with this build. Regarding armor/trinkets that he suggested, I used the stats as a baseline to reach with my own armor/trinkets. I am using his suggested Superior Runes of Hoelbrak and food/utility. I am playing GS/Staff. I was playing hammer/staff and I haven't tried to use hammer with this yet. I haven't updated my engi since the last patch, however I do like Wolfineer's interesting and updated builds.
I run a guardian, really enjoyed my roaming Sword-Shield/Scepter-Focus Meditation build, but for running with groups larger than 5, I tend to use staff/GS with boon provisions :3 My roaming build is a combination of Soldier/Valkyrie, and my Staff/GS is pure soldier. Can't remember precisely what runes I use with my Swordy build, but Staff/GS is Hoelbrak.

There's always the ever-changing meta builds, but AFAIK, if your Guardian build worked fine for you when last you played, then it should work just fine for you now. I've not found that I need to change anything with my toons, just have to remember how to play them.
Are any of the new (April update) end tier traits being used in the current WvW Meta?
I was too overwhelmed when I logged on last and ended up just logging out due to information overload.
I have no idea. I don't have a very positive opinion of "meta builds" or those who feel the need to use them, so I don't bother paying attention to that stuff. People seem to feel happy figuring them out and using them, and if its how they like to game, then its their time and money to do with as whatever they have the most fun doing. Peeps luvs their maths n'stuff.
That said, the one from Karka Queen looked nice for a build that I like to toy with, but I haven't had the chance to see how its symmetry worked with my build, yet.
