Marketplace inconsistencies

Was just taking a look on the marketplace, seeing if there were any orders I could fill and noticed that there were several artisan and contribution point differences. Now, I'm still figuring this out, so it might be normal, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

I first noticed the Carrior Pearl Sabre orders at the bottom and it looks like the older orders are worth more points. It isn't a big difference, but it still caught my eye. So as I looked through the list, I noticed it everywhere, even with the non-crafted materials. Is this something built into the system to encourage older orders to be filled first? And if so, why does it seem like it only effects some things and not everything? (i.e. the 15 slot equipment boxes posted 2 days apart have a point difference, but the Omnom bars posted a week apart don't) Thanks!

Yes the price goes up every day they sit on the marketplace unclaimed. As soon as they are claimed the price stops going up. This is to reward the people filling the older orders and encourages people to fill old orders first. I'm not sure which your looking at but from what i can tell your looking at:

Both Artisan and Contribution are higher for the older item. It may have been a case where someone had an item claimed and then unclaimed it and the nightly bonus update hadn't ticked over yet.

Yep, that answers the question, thanks Fog. Never noticed it before, I always took a 'first come, first served' approach and filled older stuff first naturally. Should these be different too or does it only apply to certain items? I only see 2 of those both of the 27ths. Chances are someone had the Bar's claimed and didn't fill them in the 14 day layaway period so they went back to Queue. Tonight those prices should update. All resync on marketplace data happens at 1AM PST.

We don't want to reward people for sitting on an item for 14 days in their queue to wrack up the points. As it is people have been trying to "Game" the system. We don't want to encourage such behavior.

Thats actually a really smart idea. Making sure that people who posted the item longer get helped first. I like it.

Just a quick note on those Omnomberry Bars for solomongrimm.1638, I tried to fulfill the order but the GW2 name was wrong.

some of these mats required for items that people are making are pretty costly , like the main thing i see people wanting are free 18 and 20 slot bags . however the rune cost 2 g for the 18 slot bag and 10 g for the 20 slot bag not counting the rest of the stuff . I `m happy to make stuff for people but i can`t afford to shell out that kind of cash to give away a item . if people are supplying the runes then sure , same as the exotic armors everyone wants a free suit , if they are helping supply the ectos , and orchilum then sure i`ll hook you up .

18 and 20 slot bags, the USER must provide the RUNE of HOLDING. Not the crafter. See the bright orange text for details :). Cant make it any brighter.

oh how i wish i was lvl 3 artisian lol. Weaponsmithing could use a friendly hand with the missing recipes.
