Thank you. I am noticing that most of the requests on the marketplace is for T6 materials. There does not seem to be a lot of requests for crafted items.
never was , i started about 3 or so days after the headstart and pretty much all the request for items since launch day 1 has been for endgame items, exotic armor, rings, weapons, and 20 slot bags . been that way since launch .
now mats , there was always a good mix of people requesting differnt tiers of mats but not items . I just farmed all my mats myself and grinded out the skill lvles , and gave away free suits of armor and weapons and jewelry in guild chat since no one ever asked for something non exotic on the marketplace ..
Yeah, that's kind of the problem (in my opinion) with many MMOs these days (EVE Online being an obvious exception)... After a certain point (which everyone reaches faster and faster with each new MMO) crafted items below the highest tiers aren't really of any use to anyone, since the market is usually flooded with very cheap versions of the same thing for the lower levels, people don't need to ask friends for them for alts, since they can just buy them from strangers for next-to-nothing.. Just one of the negatives we who like crafting have to deal with in order to play games where everyone can do everything.. Exclusivity and rarity create value... Nothing craftable and sellable is really exclusive or rare in GW2, so crafting anything below the highest tier goods is never going to be as most crafters would like :(
I really miss the utter reliance on our crafters we all felt in my alliance in EVE... There was a genuine "circle of life" insofar as the pvpers relied on mission runners and crafters for equipment and ships, the mission runners relied on crafters for items and pvpers for defence, the crafters relied on miners for supplies and everyone for a market to sell their goods, miners relied on pvpers for defence and crafters for a market to supply...etc..etc.. (it's probably a lot deeper than that, but it's midnight and I worked all day, so forgive me...point being, we relied on each other, no matter how we liked to play the game) But in most mainstream MMOs, there is no reliance upon anyone else (excluding short dungeon runs and even shorter large-scale pve events)
Granted, GW2 is a ton of fun... I'm just missing the "circle of life" feeling in EVE.. Not sure whether I like feeling needed or I like being needed, but that's an even more long and drawn out subject ;)
Sorry for rambling, I'm a bit beyond the point of being so tired someone should take away my keyboard... Time to log in and see what kind of WvW damage I can create ;)
yep i have been a craft junkie in every game since 1999 in EQ , now eq system was brutal , as you didn`t click on a trainer to learn recipes ,
you would find as loot obscure burned scroll or torn parchment with half the recipe listed and you had to discover the recipe or search a web site that others listed recipe combos they had discovered to learn new recipes . once you learned it , it showed up in your know recipe list , but you didn`t go to a craft trainer to learn new recipes .
And even if a item was trival to make you still had a 1 % chance of failure , and you didn`t gain skill ups every time you did a combo , like games today . Thus high lvl crafters were in high demand and products they crafted were useful most of the time .
Sadly in a game where crafting is super easy and everyone has several max lvl crafters there`s no reason to really need crafters , still as always i farmed all my mats and grinded out the lvls out of habit , i suppose i could have used market place for mats but after 13 years of farming my own mats it`s hard to change lol .
if elder scrolls turns out to be a good game i hope they have a better craft system as this one is not that great or useful .
I stopped spending my vault points after getting a few exotic gears I couldn't make at the time
I can't even bring myself to order T6 mats with them, feels like torturing other people /__\
I wouldn't feel bad about ordering T6 resources mate. Some people love farming them, some people just have excess stock. When I used to have more time on my hands, I loved roaming around in MMO's gathering resources to sell or trade. I just don't have the time to do it any more unfortunately
As Zemustat mentioned it's a pretty common once the endgame gets going in most MMOs but the way GW2 is designed it's especially extreme. Leveling is quick and easy and gear is readily available so there isn't the need to gear up while leveling to get over a leveling plateau. Nor is there a need to get an advantage in bracketed pvp since there are no brackets. There is also a lot of value for each player to level multiple crafting skills first because it's experience and you need multiple crafting skills maxed to make some endgame items.
I'm actually torn on if it's good or bad it was fun in some earlier games when it took a big group effort to level crafting skills so maxxing one was an accomplishment and allowed you to be a big help to your guilds. On the other hand now that I have more responsibilities at home and at work I appreciate that the barriers to advancing aren't that bad.
Thanks to everyone who has made armor and weapons for my ele Scorch. He's moving along nicely thanks to your help!
If you need raw materials peep me, I'm going to be more time online because I'm feeling better, and the doctor's appointment is just around the corner, yay! :D
kitty check out what the tyrian adventure legendaries need too if you would like. We have a great need for mats right now:)
Glad to see you're feeling better Kitty 83
