So someone asked , how do I run a good dps engineer build without using grenades, or bombs; and I want to use it in dungeons, or maybe even player vs. player.

I really like the engineer, on a competitive level I am always tapping tons and tons of keys when I am fighting in sPvP, or even dungeons. But I think it takes a lot more clicks than other classes which could be a bit tiring. Why aim ground targeted grenades click by click when you can swing a sword or shoot arrows like other profession.

So I came up with a build that should let anyone that is new to the engineer have a easier time to run their engineer in all situations, with less button smashing, no carpel tunneling, and still provides decent performance.

I call it the Chill Life Engineer!

It's still kind of busy but it's much easier than the other builds I posted so I thought it could be good if people wanted to try eng, but didn't want to go all crazy about it

Instead of type a lot about how it works and blah blah, I decided to just upload sample footages this time around; but my computer is pretty bad so the footage is pretty low resolution /__\ And I was lagging a lot with the screen cap program on so I didn't actually jump into some spvp matches or WvW.

Normal Playstyle: (Against stationary objects, so basically anything PvE, dungeons, you can easily carry it out like this)

Competitive Playstyle: (More towards sPvP and WvW <- Good for knocking people around unless they have long durations of stability)

Wow, that "Overcharged Shot" is amazing.  Going to have to roll an Engi now.  Thanks for posting this.

I can see this being good 1 vs 1  but how does it play out with multiple attackers..  I run an engy myself and have been dabbling in multiple builds,  and even though I can survive pretty well I often find myself not causing the dmg needed to take down attackers...

@ Doreth

This isn't a bunker build set up so I don't think it's easy to find yourself winning 1vX a lot, in my opinion it's hard to win if they are 2 good players anyway; but atleast you can escape with acid bomb and soak up tons of damage by blocking with your shield if things get rough.

Also, since we are taking static discharge, you still do decent damage to multiple enemies, not to mention the elixir gun skill 2 also does good damage to multiple enemies (+cripple), so the 2 tool belts skills plus EG #2  would provide you some pressure against people running around. It's also easier to land since they are target skills.

If they are near enough, then rifle 3, 5 and EG 4 provides good AoE damage as well.

If you run with a team, change "go for the eyes" to "sitting duck", the cripple will help you a lot in fights.

I mean personally I run with grenades since it has more aoe potential, and I like the chill and blind on it very much. This build is just an alternative build for people that really dislike using the grenades and bomb kit; but still wants to do really good damage, with reasonable survivalbility.

@ Doreth

Hey Doreth, I took a look at your build, going to make a few suggestions if you don't mind:

1. If you run Med Kit + Rune of Altruism, you should already have permanent access to Fury boon, 13 second from kit + 6.5 from runes, then as you hit 15 seconds, 6.5 from rune again, then it will match up to the 20 second cd from kit, so it keeps going.

Therefore, you really don't gain much from elixir B as a skill, you don't need the fury, the swiftness; the 1 stack of might won't be game changing and it's just not worth it for the retaliation. Especially since you are not running an elixir build. The only good thing would be the stability from the toss elixirs, but it's too high a cost to pay in my opinion..

So I'd suggest you try Slick Boots instead; this skill seems to be a bit underused but it's very powerful. The knock down oil will help a lot when you are running through or away from  a zerg in wvw, the tool belt skill is amazing because, not only do you get another stun breaker, you break out of combat speed for 5 seconds. So whether you are running or chasing in a battle, you will have the upper hand, this scales really well if you want to escape, you can acid bomb then super speed out of there. Or if you are super offensive, super speed  + slick boots to chain knock down foes. I personally think this skill will add more to your play style from looking at the traits you picked.

2.  Leg Mods is one those weird traits.. People that really want you to stop moving will still have you stop moving, every time I try this trait I end up taking it away. When someone land chilling grenades on you will be chilled for like 6s instead of 7.8s , really easier to just cure condition on yourself.. I think you can give kit refinement a try, the effects are really nice. Projectile reflection on med kit, fire shield for FT, and glue trail that immobilizes for EG; it's harder to proc it when you want to since you will be swapping kits a lot, but you can see it as a added benifit every 20 seconds and improvise on the effect :P   Leg Mods is definitely not significant in PvE.

yeah I agree my elixir choice varies a lot depending on the day lol,  I usually run it when I know I wont have time to equip my med kick and drop my pack....  I switch in other elixers or even rocket boots at times,  even play in tool kit from time to time :)

as for the trait  I had dabble arrond with that also,  I run with speedy gadget right now, its not a big reduction,  but the more I can use my toolbelt heals the better I feel
