Novice Dungeon Runs

So, what this all about?

I've heard people talking both in guild chat and in RaidCall about need for more organized dungeon events, and since I always like both a good fight and the process of learning and teaching a good fight, I've decided to organize a weekly event of going through the different dungeons. Each week, we'll tackle a different dungeon in at least Story mode, possibly Explorable mode (depending who shows up and what experience they have) and help folks to learn the dungeons and the fights in a (relatively) stress-free environment.

Who should come? Can I join?

All classes are welcome to attend, and all levels as well (as long as you meet the dungeon requirement). If you've never run a dungeon before, this will be the time to learn. The main focus of these runs will be to get time playing with family as well as learning/completing those dungeons.

What's the plan? Who will I play with?

The event is planned for two runs through the dungeon. If enough people show up, we'll switch up groups for the second run (so that everyone gets a chance to play with different people and learn different class dynamics).

This first week will be a trial run of this format, so please be patient while we work out any kinks or any other organizational issues that come with a first event. Once the event has completed, please feel free to leave feedback either here or with me personally and we'll work each week to make this event fun for everyone that shows up.

week one: Ascalonian Catacombs (Story Mode)

For our first week, we'll be hitting the first dungeon of Guild Wars 2, Ascalonian Catacombs. This dungeon is located in the Plains of Ashford, the Charr 1-15 area. We'll be meeting up at the waypoint for the dungeon (Phasmatis Corridor), where we'll divide into various groups (if needed)

We'll try to run the dungeon twice during the event (though we'll adjust this depending how fast everyone progresses), so if you miss the first run, we'll get you included in the second run (or to fill in as needed with other groups). We may also attempt Explorable mode, depending on if the desire/numbers are there.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Been out of pocket for a week so nice to log back on and see a Dungeon 101 thread. A couple of my characters are just coming of age to do them so would love to participate. Look forward to the fun.:)

Nice! This would be perfect for me - I've been playing wince BWE2 but have actually never set foot into a dungeon. I may not be able to make it by the start of the event as I have some family obligations in the early afternoon, but would it be cool to jump in for the 2nd run if I miss the first?

I will be there. I'm not a dungeon person, cuz I'm always afraid I'll mess up. Did a lot of that in Rift. :/ I'm an ele and squishy! However I do know how to play my class solo. :) So I'll need help learning how to play in a dungeon. From what I've heard, storymode is the best way to start. I'm level 70+ and I've done my story up to level 50+. So I'm ready, just a bit...ummm 'fraid. LOL Learning with family though is the best way to go. I've never had a bad experience messing up with the guild. <3 you guys!

Sounds like a good idea to me, I hear lots of people in guild chat wanting to start running dungeons but never having done them yet. Also Kittara no worries, mistakes happen all the time, just gotta get up regroup and try again :)

I think this is a great idea. If you need any dungeon veterans to help out, just shoot me a whisper!

Kittara, the idea behind this event was just for that, lots of people wanting to try dungeons but nothing easy on the calendar just for learning the ropes and having fun. The plan is to have the event for a different dungeon each week, so there's always one time a week for trying dungeons out in a relatively stress-free environment. Ralcore, definitely would love having some experienced veterans around. Depending how many people show up, having enough people to lead the groups/be able to post credit for the event for the other parties would be wonderful (since I can only post the event for people that will be in my particular party). Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Good times! Our group was able to do story mode and then we went in a second time for the Ghost Eater explorable path. Both runs went really smoothly and it was a lot of fun. Thanks for spearheading this event!

I'm very happy that everyone had a good time (even happier we ended up with an even number of people!) Next week will be AC Explorable mode, so I'll be extending the event an extra hour, which should give us enough time to make sure everyone gets two runs next time, and so we can try swapping things up a bit at the mid-point. Look forward to seeing you all next week!

I am not normally a person who enjoys, or is good at, dungeons. My quest for increased boon duration requires Monk runes with AC tokens. So when I saw the event it seemed like a tailor made opportunity. Charlatan was an excellent guide as we handled the explorable AC and I was suprised how much fun it was. Thanks for the event and thanks for showing me the ropes. Really appreciated the opportunity to learn without being mocked etc.
