New Member Help?

Hello,

I'm sorry if the answer to this posted somewhere. I have looked around with no luck. If there is a post, kindly direct me and I will be happy to read about it. 

"Claim your Characters" I'm unsure of how this works or what they are for exactly. Seems I read a reference to Rift and crafting? However, although I will be playing GW2 do I still claim a character now? Or will a new set of characters be created for GW2 once it launches. If I am to claim a character now, where do I go from there? And, finally, when GW2 launches are we to use a name from the "Claim your Characters" list for our in game character/s?

Hiya Myk! Right now in Rift, once a character is invited to the in-game guild, their character shows up in the list that you see in "Claim your Characters". Then the member that owns that character can come to the website and attach that character to their website account so that they can claim participation points for family events. All those characters that you're seeing in that list are characters that are in the Rift guild but haven't yet been claimed by a player on the website. I would imagine that it'll work in a somewhat similar way in Guild Wars 2, but that will probably depend on if Fog can get the website to automatically pull from the in-game roster - I'm not sure what is possible with the technology at the moment. So, if you're not playing Rift, don't worry about claiming characters right now. Once Guild Wars 2 launches we'll have ways to attach the GW2 characters to our accounts. :)

Thanks so much for that info Moxie! I kind of thought that's how it may work but, being new and wanting to do things right, figured I should ask just in case. Originally I thought choosing a name was part of a guild site type of game. Be gentle with me, I confuse easily! :) Thanks again! Myk
