Hail to the Family!

I just wanted to start a quick thread about the character creator I'm curently using and that's Hero Lab. Now I know most folks prefer just looking through books and piecing together there character and that's fine, but for me it can get a bit overwhelming considering it's been 20 years since I've seriously played. And trying to remember which feats/traits affect which modifiers and then there's race/class bouses, armor/skill bonuses...etc, it's hard for me to keep track of everything.

Well I stumbled across a great character creator called Hero Lab that helps with all of that and makes my life so much eaiser, especially when I'm trying to play catch-up after 20 years. I will admit there is a downside and that it's not free, but honestly for me the cost is worth having things organized and always updated. Please don't get me wrong here I'm not trying to promote it I just wanted to give my point of view. If your interested just google it and check it out.

If there are other character creators out there that others might be using I would be interested in hearing about those as well.

I've looked at Hero Lab, it looks good. I have my books and *.PDFs and I'm one of the people that likes looking through them. I do agree that coming back after a long break from gaming can be intimidating and having something to help make characters is nice. Yay for technology and the interwebz!

I will agree that having something I can hold in my hand or read on the monitor helps flesh out the character more and therefore (FYI) I have ALL of the Pathfinder books/companions/chronicles/modules and adventure paths in PDF. If anyone would like something just email me. Once I get the feel for it again and learn all the rules I'm going to get brave and run a campaign. Right now I'm getting my feet wet with my kids and running them through the D&D Red Box & DM Kit Encounters. Although having to keep two different sets of rules in my head has presented a challenge...lol But I really like the way Pathfinder plays and once my kids get better at table top playing I'll switch over to the PF starter kit.
