Hey all you east coast family out there who are in the path of what the news is calling a very bad situation, keep us informed on your well being.  Make sure you are safe and have a line out / or road out if trouble gets too bad.  I live on the west coast(cali) so i don't know much about your storms and if what the news people are saying is really what is in actuality happening.

the news blow out of proportion our earthquakes so i am not sure if that is what is happening here or not but they said it could be worse than the "perfect storm" of '91.  Here is hoping its not that bad.

This does appear to be a freak storm thought could be pretty brutal on the northeast. It does have the 'perfect storm' conditions to make some coastal dwellers very very unhappy. It still remains to be seen where on the coast the storm will pick to demolish but if it doesn't turn back out to see it's going to be pretty bad for the enture northeast. I'll will be sitting back with my swimsuit on and my board ready to surf the streets of baltimore. No but seriously I hope if its bad in my area I still have power so I can play gw2 through it.

Sandy passed by me close enough that we got hit by, basically, a tropical storm Thursday, Friday, and part of Saturday. High winds, heavy rains, lots of the neighbors' stuff in my yard, etc. All is well now, and we're getting our first sunshine since Tuesday this morning. You guys be careful up north. I can't imagine that a frozen hurricane is any fun at all.

Viktor, hope this one is not worse but they are saying it could be for how it is coming in and the timing with the full mood and tides. Storm surge is predicted to be higher than last time. Not sure if you are close to the coast or got rain deluge flooding like we did up here in the Catskills. I am watching this closely only because of how Irene devastated towns where I know a lot of people and go to church. We still have buildings in town that are vacant and either need to be tore down to be rebuilt or some need a LOT of repair. Irene was so bad we even got several inches in one of our church buildings including the warehouse area for our community assistance program that supplies cheap food to low income families. Awesome thing about our community and what our church has set up already, we were still able to have the church cleaned up and was serving hot meals along with food and water needs to those who needed it within 24 hours. So I know we are watching this close in case we need to handle a repeat of last year. Praying we don't. For where I live the worse brunt of the storm is Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning. Mostly heavy rain and 32 mph winds (thankfully nothing gale strength). One of the computer model paths shown on weather.com this morning has the center of the storm turning right into out county after hitting Pennsylvania. That's our worse case scenario for where I live. So enough to flood, but not sure yet if it will be a repeat of Irene.

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D

Good luck up north guys, this does look like it's going to be a bad one. I was actually in Nashville when it flooded a a couple summers ago and it was the scariest situation I have ever been in. You never think it's going to be "that bad". I was stuck on interstate 65 when about three feet of water rushed across and suddenly traffic was at a dead stop with water rising. Luckily I was right at an exit and got to a hotel with in five minutes, where I sat the night out with a bunch of other scared folks and we watched the city flood. So when the weather guys say "perfect storm", you have to be ready.

I am just outside of Philadelphia, its been raining here all morning and increasingly getting worse. We are to get the bulk of this Monday afternoon. I hear the Jersey Shore is already started to flood. It has been estimated that if the power were to got out, it will been out for a few weeks. To all who are in the path, I wish you the best of luck, and I have my fingers crossed that this will not be as bad as the media is making it out to be. Meatyard

*please insert ominous thunder and lightning here* FRANKENSTORM!!! MWA ha ha ha ha!! *Thriller music begins to play* *Twas a few nights before Halloween when all through southern Maine. *All the people were in a hurry batting down the hatches and clearing the storm drains. *For on the weather channel they said this was not going to be just a Nor-Easter. *It has the making of a perfect storm so hold on to your Keester. *Old man Jenkins looked out his picture window of Southern Maine. *He couldn't help but think that this was going to be such a pain. *Well he figured he better get to work and in a hurry. *"Could be worse" he muttered "I could be living in New Jersey." (you try to figure out a ryme for New Jersey lol it's hard) *Hell bent for leather he set to his task. *In a flash he was done. "Now for a beer?" like he had to ask. *He settled in with his chips and chip dip for a long day of Sunday football. *When a voice arouse from the down the hall. *"Dad did you get the gas for the generator?" he son said with a slight yell. *With a deep sigh he put aside his snack, got up and resisted the urge to say "Go to hell." *He loaded up the gas cans and headed out for the corner store. *Upon arrival he could see cars lined up down the block and he jaw hit the floor. * "You've got to be kidding me!" he said to himself with a growl in his tone. *But as his turn arrived he still managed a smile his frustration never once shown. *Generator had gas and the fridge well stocked every thing was dandy. *But still he couldn't shake the bad feeling he had for the monster storm called "Frankenstorm Sandy!"

Drizzle started here in the Catskills sometime in the past two hours after hubby left for work. We might have more of a brunt of gusty wind and rain tomorrow. However, it seems we are only to get 1 to 3 inches here though when the gustier winds hit tomorrow they can hit gail force in the higher elevations and open areas. We only have a flood watch, not a warning so far. However, the warnings are for a good partion of New York state - this is for the catskills to spread north and west of there. Worse the closer to NYC you get. If they are right our area here will happily not have a repeat of Irene.

My brother is from Eastern PA, he said that it wasn't too bad, but it was supposed to get worse. I talked to him about 130 eastern time this afternoon. He also said that some of the boardwalks in Jersey were washed away. Of course, he likes to embellish.

He is not embellishing about how the water has come in on the Jersey boardwalks. I've been watching some live stuff on the NYC ABC 7 station since dinner. For NYC and upper Jersey there will be high tide in a few minutes from now up to 9pm. Winds still pushing the surge inland and we are already seeing record high surge. Battery in southern Manhattan has finally beat the 1821 record high water and that was what they were saying two hours before the high tide. Due to how the storm is moving slow and now joined with the cold front line to the west, it is likely low tide will not let the water out until the second cycle of low tides we have from this point. Here in the Catskills we have high winds that I can hear roaring over the mountain tops and it is still raining. Obviously I have power because I am still on the internet. We have a wind warning until 5pm est tomorrow and only a watch on flooding. However, my phone does not let me hear a caller if I answer, but if I call out it works. So thankfully we should not have an Irene repeat, but many other areas in NJ, NY, MA, PA and CT are far worse. Lots of power outages closer to the coast and even forced power shut downs in lower Manhattan in predicted in other spots to save further damage and issues until the water recedes. Think we have 2.2 million customers without power in CT, NY, Long Island, and NJ. I know Philly was having power issues much earlier due to a random player I linked up with and was playing with who had to log because her power started flickering and her mother-in-law had lost it already. (Side note: She is seriously thinking about checking out our guild after the two hours I did spend with her in Kessex.) Praying all make it through this and that power is recovered quickly to those who have or will lose power. Even for my new found friend in Philly.

Update from Long Island: things are really terrible here, but we're getting it sorted. Obviously the coastal areas have it the worst, myself included (though thankfully I was spared the flooding). Many small business owners will be losing their businesses; it is a very depressing drive through Oceanside (by Long Beach, NY) to see all of these people hopelessly sweeping seaweed out of their storefronts. To all of our family effected by the storm, the biggest thing is to be careful on the roads. In most places on Long Island, there is little or no traffic control, and people are driving like maniacs; if you absolutely MUST drive, please, observe caution!

Know all my family in Jersey is all right; however, one sister-in-law and her hubby are without electric still in central Jersey. My other sister-in-law who lives further south had a tree come down but it appears to have only done damage to the siding (nothing major) and put a dent in one of the cars. They got power back now. Thanks for the update on LI, Ralcore. I know the networks for the city are showing a LOT of what is going on. The craziest thing is people trying to get gas in Jersey today with only 40% of the stations with electric and most starting to ration gas. At least one along one of the main routes in a rest stop actually had a tanker come to fill tanks, but it's still a two hour line to get gas there. Saw another that was open, but the pumping system suddenly broke and they were working on it. Also, for the greater NY metro area and around, think we are down to about 3.5 million customers without power down from the original of 8.5 or so for the area. Some places need a lot of rewiring due to downed poles, trees, etc that made a mess of things. Did not see an update today on the news about the gas line breaks in Jersey.

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D

Having grown up on the gulf coast i`1ve been through several cat 2 - 4 storms and know how hard it can be afterwards . Hope everyone is ok and even tho it can be frusating at times atleast try and look on the brightside if everyone is safe then everything else isn`t important as it can be replaced . Also atleast the weather is semi cool , it is way more frusating in 100 degree weather with 90 + % humdity. From the reports on fox news all the mayors, and fema people are saying how great of a job they are doing and everything is going smooth despite what the citzens are saying . Hang in there I know when Ike hit galveston in 08 i live 20 miles north of galveston and storm rolled right over my aprtment . yet i had no damage and had power, cable, and internet 3 days after the storm, yet my buddy living 80 miles north of me had no power for 3 weeks . hopefuly they`ll get power to everyone in a few more days .

Fog I'm here I been on a couple times since the storm all is ok by me you cant even tell we had a storm but on the coast its bad. Gas lines are crazy going in some cases more then a mile or 100-200 cars in line hoping the station has gas for them in some spots. Still lots with no power or not even a home anymore and its supposed to me in the 20's tonight with a noreaster on Wednesday into Thursday with more 50mph winds with it.

I sent an email to Ralcore yesterday. He lives in an area that I know had a lot of issues, so hoping he is doing okay. Glad you are doing okay, Kavor. I know my sister-in-law closer to the coast in Jersey got power back already, still not sure if the one in central Jersey has her power. I know the winds caused a lot more issues inland than rain did. All the major water damage was on the coast and up coastal rivers.

Not sure when he will be back. Waiting for further details on what issues he has with where he lived. He's checking email when he has a chance to and he appreciated that I sent him the mail to check on him.
