Hey everyone. I'm excited because I'm finally getting into building a new computer and I wanted to share with everyone and get your opinion's on what I've purchased so far. so far sense the start of the year I have been systematically buying a piece here and a piece there. so far I have a high def monitor, a gaming keyboard, mouse and now the tower. once I have every part I need for basic computer operation I'll be installing everything and I'll be able to run my games even better then before. I'll even be able to join you all in Guild Wars 2 or perhaps Elder Scrolls, that is if Final Fantasy doesn't overwhelm my time LOL. but enough with all that. here's what I have so far.

OS - Linux Mint with Cinnamon shell

Computer Case - NZXT Phantom 630

Monitor - Acer GD235 HDMI 1080p Widescreen

Keyboard - Logitech G510 Gaming Keyboard

Mouse - Logitech G600 Gaming Mouse

Processor - Intel i5-4670

Motherboard = MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Motherboard

I'll add to this list once I have the parts and then I'll post pictures of my new rig once it's all completed. please let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions on parts you might think will be good. do not hesitate to let me know about them. i'm sure some of the family here builds computers or has at once point.

Getting Closer and closer. just a little update on the parts I have so far

Only suggestions I have is make sure you get 64 bit Windows, no more than 8gb of RAM (gaming will rarely even use up this much, going over 8gb is pointless unless you plan on doing some MAJOR work on this rig), a EVGA GTX 760 video card (I say 760 simply due to pricing, if money is no object, of course go big, but the 760 is the best price point card for gaming)

For case cooling, I definately recoomend using a 200mm front intake fan and a 200mm top exhaust fan. It will provide great airflow without a lot of noise.

Impossible to suggest anything without knowing how much you are going to throw-down for it.

There is a great hardware forum, HardForum, that has a section devoted specifically to building rigs with some very good advice.

http://hardforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=40

Take a look in here, and you can see where your price range is, what other people are building/getting their parts from and see how it stacks up to what you currently have

i love and trust Tom's Hardware guide. i used it to build my dream gaming rig and i love it. i think their reviews are excellent for whatever your gaming dreams and budgets.

i only regret that i accidentally did not buy the water-cooled version of my dual SLI NVidia graphic cards. but that was me - not their guide.

enjoy!!!

Sorry I'm a bit late to the party, I've been building systems since the ... *coughs to cover* late 80s. *clears throat*

I notice you didn't list a motherboard or memory on there?  Also I'd like to second the Windows 64bit, and if you're looking at 7 make sure you get the right version for the amount of memory you'll be using (I think its the 'Home' version that only supports 12GB; I had to upgrade to use my 64gb)  Personally I love ASUS motherboards and Crucial memory, but ya know how opinions go :P

-----

My latest passion has been building gaming rigs and cruelly stuffing them into tiny HTCP cases *giggles*  I ended up upgrading my last case cause I ... well... *murmurs softly under her breath* I melted all the plastic on my last case trying to mod it, but I haz pix of it http://sovereigntych.enjin.com/profile/2328083/pics/album/album_id/305440  That one had an external power supply! *snickers*  My HD 7950 GPU was so big I had to take out the PSU and cut holes in the top in order to fit it in, of course the V6GT CPU cooler required a large hole in the top too.  I custom made my own cables and single braided them so they looked real sweet on the exterior of the case (love the EL wire.)  Unfortunately, I blew that PSU while setting up my sound activated LEDs and CCFs *grins sheepishly* That is what I get for soldering while testing the placement for the sound activation mics...

Anyway... My current rig's in a beautiful SilverStone HTCP black aluminum case, Asus Sabertooth 990FX/Gen 3 rev 2 motherboard (which can take the heat,) FX-8350 4.2GHz CPU, 32gb Crucial low profile memory, a hybrid water cooled HD7970 GPU, and I'll be trying out a full water cool system, but I'm still working out the mod design cause I intend to put 2 dual GPU cards in her. http://sovereigntych.enjin.com/profile/2328083/pics/album/album_id/305428 *laughs manically and wanders off to fiddle with electronic bits*

That CoolerMaster HAF 932 is a nice case but they are big, that's what I'm using atm. I attached the included casters with it sitting under my desk and had to remove my keyboard tray, still love the case though.
