Sorry for missing this weekend's WAR fun...
Tenebrae and I went to Mobile for the weekend to visit the USS Alabama - a WWII era battleship.
We went with the kids... and... 100 Cubscouts [shudder]... yes, there was mayhem...
We spent the night on the ship, and slept in the hanging bunk/cots.
Well, I SAY we slept - Those kids kept us up all night... heh heh...
Good times :)
Nobody went overboard? Har har!
Well... There WERE a couple kids there that needed to walk the plank, or at least needed more parental supervision... Now that I think about it, there were a couple parents that should have gone over the side too... heh heh...
Did at least get to wake them all up with the ship's alarms? :)
No. I'm kinda disappointed that Reveille didn't scare the piss out of us. They just turned the lights back on... :P
I remember staying on the Yorktown (a WW2 aircraft carrier in Charleston SC) as a cub scout. We sneaked out after lights out and explored with flashlights. Was pretty neat wandering around a big ship like that in the dark.
It amazes me the noises and groaning an old ship can make ... I hate going out to the Mothball Fleet in Suisun Bay where the decommissioned ships are. But the sturgeon fishing is great!
It's all the history on those ships. :) Sturgeon fishing still good there huh? I usually fished further upstream near Antoich.
It's still good :) Just need to watch the bloody sand bars when the tides get low haha
I haven fished along the Delta in about 8 years or so
oh sweet. I would have loved the chance to spend the night on one of those ships.
