I got me a Nvidia gtx 260m 4 gigs of the rams windows 7 64 bit (any other info you need I can get)
well my question is I've again grown weary of the same ol same ol in warhammer, and I'm looking to make my future jump into the next game I'm looking at either rift or guild wars 2. My Laptop can run warhammer and Aion no problem though Aion gets my lappy a bit warm, I checked Rifts specs on 'Can I run it' and I was clear on all parts sans the cpu, which would be above minimum specs but below recommended.

I wouldn't mind getting Guild wars and meet any of the guild there but I'm worried that when GW2 comes out I'll fall short system wise, the weird thing is I've seen rift (in youtube) and Aion looks far more detailed and my laptop runs that at highest and 'can I run it' rates my rig as top of the line. So what I'm getting at is for those who've played or have all the techie knowledge do you think when the final version of rift comes out will my laptop be in a position to run the game at a medium setting comfortably or is it just set in stone. Also does anyone have any idea about the system requirments of gw2 might be?

thanks for your help,

Sincerely,
Sleepless in California

Have you had issues running Rift on your laptop so far? What type of CPU do you have? I think if you haven't had issues yet running the game, that you'd be ok in the future. I'm sure that they will be doing performance enhancements before launch too that will make it run even faster. I think since Rift is targetting WoW players, that they can't really go too crazy with the graphics. Most WoW players don't have the latest newest hardware and they won't upgrade just to play another game. GW2 is hard to say. There's not much info out on it so far. Maybe when it gets closer to launch or testing, you can revisit this question. I played Rift prior to upgrading my computer with the same RAM and video card but Windows XP instead. I didn't have much trouble running the game at it's recommended settings. Of course, it's hard to tell how it will work with 50 players on the screen but I think you'll be fine.

Thanks for replying first off, I haven't got to try rift out yet I'm merely basing my fears off of the 'Can I run it' site, My Cpu is Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8800 @ 2.66GHz. It seems to be fine for most games but you know how it goes when you have friends in a game you want to be able go where they go and such, again thanks for taking the time out to let me know what's up. Gro !(*-*)!

I think your system specs are fine. The only weak point is your processor but most laptops are underpowered processor wise anyways. Rift allows you to change alot of the graphical optimizations and I tried it out at the lowest settings possible and the world still looked really good even at that setting.
