[GSCH] Future interest Poll

Thanks for everyone's feedback at tonight's meeting.  This question keeps coming up as people choose what characters to roll/transfer, so here is the promised roll call thread :)

This week we have finally solidified our vision of the Social Adventures going forward.  Everyone interested in End game raiding needs to read this thread:

Social Adventures

Here is what I would like to highlight:

Focused on Players, not Guilds

The Social Adventure system has been designed from the ground up to work with players who are in various guilds or no guilds at all. This program is not centered around guilds, it's centered around players. Players are encouraged to join our Official GSCH to start and use it as a launching pad for deeper adventures. They welcome to launch their own guilds specializing in the content they enjoy. They are still able to use the Social Adventure system, they are still considered family, and all GSCH Social Adventures work together to succeed in the various gameworlds.

"It's not the tag above your head that matters,
It's what's on your face at the end of the day."

In games that are widely popular we will launch a "GSCH" within the game to act as a staging ground for adventures. Players can join and socialize with other Gaiscioch members in this small guild. Our focus in game will be on casual gaming and socialization. We will largely be moving people from entry level to endgame level. If some ambitious players decide to step up and lead some end game activities we will have some fun events, however we do encourage players that want to specialize beyond that which is offered within GSCH to explore other communities with Gaiscioch members or even form their own. The Official GSCH guild is purely a launching pad for Gaiscioch members.

Start your Adventure with Familiar Faces

So our [GSCH] will remain casual and open to any Gaiscioch member.  If someone wants to step up and start a raid team in Legion for Normal content and beyond they can use this thread as an interest poll.  I will host a guild LFR night in [GSCH] for Legion when it is time for us to do so, but nothing beyond that.

If raiding from Normal and beyond is your goal in WoW, then please get with Fog about forming a Tuatha raiding guild for WoW, or remain in [GSCH] and work with a raiding guild on your own.

Tanks

Vodknight - Druid

Spiritual - Paladin (off spec heals)

Darthnerdus the Demon Hunter (off spec DPS)

Healers

Valeureux - Priest (Holy, Aoe raid heals) - offspec DPS (no first Tuesday of the month)

Carpanda - Monk (Aoe raid heals) - offspec DPS

Spiritual - Paladin Off spec heals (strong tank heals)

DPS:

Minimum 6, and one being heals off-spec

Twilah -  Paladin(heals off spec) Paladin (no Wednesdays)

Nexmagus - Mage (no first Tuesday of the month)

Darthnerdus the Demon Hunter

Lilou as a ranged DPS (Warlock?) (no Thursdays)

Iakona Shaman (offspec heals)

Elidien Shaman (offspec heals)

Ruwund -  Paladin (no Sundays)

Now here's what everyone needs to wrap their head around.  You will be able to play every spec available to your class in Legion.  No more "dual spec" restriction.  So a druid will be able to cover all five roles.  A paladin three roles.  You get it :) However, the catch is that you will get your artifact weapon right away for your main spec, and a second weapon for an off spec somewhere around level 102.  So if you want to raid early, you probably want to focus on earning power for the weapon (role) you want to raid with.  Eventually you will be able to get and level an artifact weapon for all roles, but that is supposed to take several months of playing.

No more spec restrictions

Another bombshell dropped on us last Saturday came from the Q&A, where Blizzard said they’d drop the two-spec restriction of Dual Specialization. Players will be able to swap among all of their class specs (even all four in the case of druids). Swapping specs became easier in Warlords with the introduction of gear that switched primary stats depending on your current spec. With Blizzard lifting the final restriction, your raiders no longer have to identify as a main spec/off-spec character. All gear will be relevant to players who can switch to that role, which will have to be accounted for in your loot system.

Some guilds may opt to keep the main/off designations. Others will want to maximize their options and let players collect for three or four roles. Each guild will have to decide what is best for their raid team.

Items such as weapons and trinkets (and in the case of tanks and healers, necklaces, rings, and capes with Bonus Armor or Spirit) still make a huge difference in your performance. Artifacts also seem like they’ll be a barrier to switching, even if off-spec Artifacts will unlock faster. It won’t be a free-for-all for specs just yet. Still, triple specs offer a huge amount of flexibility to your team that can’t be ignored.

Trading personal loot

A small but significant change announced at BlizzCon is that personal loot that is a duplicate for your character will become tradeable. This removes one of the biggest drawbacks to the personal loot system for raiding guilds — that duplicate loot is completely wasted. If your team currently uses a point system or some other method of loot distribution that takes time to manage, you may want to give personal loot a try in Legion. All those duplicate items could eventually feed players off — and off-off –specs.

Raid times

Right now just post what time you cannot raid.

Twlilah, DPS (ret) with Holy offspec.

I have ten level 100 toons I am comfortable raiding with, so I will probably fill whatever role is missing.  This post helps me to determine which character I need to prep for raiding and what spec.

Wednesday nights are my offline nights, and I teach a Bible Study class  on "The Story" starting up again on June 15th and going through November.

My availability might be spotty since the overall [GSCH] is my focus, so if we have players who need assistance with anything they will be my first priority.

I just rolled a new warrior.  I'm healing Disc in another raid group and would like a different role.  As long as this is more casual, I'd be interested in off tanking since I think we have a main tank already.  I plan to level him as quickly as possible.  In the meantime, I'll probably get another toon leveled and be able to dps, or whatever.  If we're lacking in some other area, I'm very willing and able to fill in for whatever role, as long as I have an appropriate toon.  For instance, if we're lacking in heals, I can level a healer.  The think I want most is to HAVE FUN RAIDING, so whatever I need to do to make that successful, I'm up for.

My initial choice is warrior off-tank, though.

HOOOO'KAY. So.

I will come out and say it. I'm probably going to play a DH this expansion.

However, if I cannot follow my dream of tanking as a DH... I'll default to my "normal" requirement (aside from my previously voiced concerns about raid times as a whole) is that I play one of the "full hybrid" classes.

I will have one of each (and do today if we want to start training up early). Gear is in a bad state since I stopped playing after Mar'gok. That can be easily fixed. Here's the list:

  • DH (Tank, then DPS)
  • Druid (All)
  • Paladin (Tank/Ret)
  • Monk (Tank/Wind)

Less preferred, but I still have them because I obviously like them:

  • Death Knight (Frost)
  • Warrior (Glad -- sad day/Tank)
  • Rogue

Overall role "priority":

  • Tanking
  • Healing
  • DPSing (I *always* gear for this, but usually just do it when solo or running farm content.)

Let me know of the hybrids would make the most sense. From what I saw in the guild roster, we're low on Monks so I can gear that toon up/get up to speed with those builds.

One of the main reasons we started this post is because I have about five folks saying they want to tank.

Darthnerdus I am so happy you are going to go full speed into Demon Hunter!  I expect at least a couple people will.

If you want to tank then make sure you have a DPS off spec that you can raid with.

I will add names to the top roster when you post specifically your character name and the roles they can play in a raid team.

Also, added proposed time to the post for feedback - thank you Nexmagus I forgot about that.

Thanks, Twiliah. Glad to hear DH isn't a "bad word" for this team. That said, I generally follow the model of "bring what the team needs" and by no means dislike DPSing, just that usually means bringing a healer or tank so I've grown into those roles. ;)

I won't put my name down for anything permanent until pre-patch, if that's okay. Unless I get a beta key (All I have to do is dream...), I will decide between DH and one of the hybrid do-anything classes when I can feel out their new skill packages and play style changes.

Thanks. :)

I have non-LFR raided in the past as resto shaman and resto druid, balance druid and destro warlock.

I have come to prefer ranged DPS, so I would be happy to play any sort of caster or hunter, although the latter would take some training up as I have not seriously raided in that role.

All that being said, though, I am never available on Thursday nights, so if you need the same team to be available both nights, I'm out.

This thread is a guideline to:

1.  Help answer the question I am getting on a daily basis, "What will we need for the Raid Team, because I want to be on it."

2.  "When will we be raiding?"

[GSCH] will not have an official raid team.  There is nothing stopping one from forming, but someone will need to lead it .

So strange that we have so many people who want to tank. Usually it is tough finding people for that role, and you have to pull teeth. Now it looks like we have to pull teeth to get people who want to dps. :)

As for me, I am not sure what I will want to raid as. Do I want to raid with Dusklight, and be boomkin tree? Do I want to tank with a paladin, or maybe even a warrior? Do I want to try out the Demon Hunter, even though I feel like I would have the same feelings for it as I do the death knight (I hate dks)? Or maybe even a warlock or hunter? I have only ever raided with a paladin (tank and dps), warlock, druid (resto) and a priest (briefly, but as holy). When it comes to dps, I too prefer ranged. I am enjoying Dusklight's druid-ness, and for some reason really love the worgen (even though they are horribly made), but there's just something about the paladin tank that just feels like it calls to me. But with this many people desiring to tank... I'm not sure. Unless they for some reason would add in a "Gladiator stance" for paladins (even though they are removing that from warriors... >:( ), I don't see myself playing as retribution. Even though they do get the Ashbringer, but they also get holy power, which I hate.

As for the times... To be quite honest, no time works for me because of my terrible job. I have no set schedule, no set days off, no set times when I go to work and leave, which makes it rather impossible to have any commitments "in the real world". And there is no guarantee the manager would even accept that I would need such days off or can't work these certain times. I have a feeling that they would just say "Then we don't need you anymore" and I would be jobless again. And that last part isn't fun when trying to look for another job. I do miss the free time, though.

So yeah, just my thoughts about the raiding thing. Not sure who I would take, or if I would even be able to. I do miss being a paladin tank though.

I have my paladin and will run whatever spec that needs filled.  That being said, I am most comfortable with retribution.  I also plan on leveling a DH and my hunter.  We will see how far the hunter gets before legion launches.  I can be a hit or miss raider :).  Sundays may not work well for me when the summer ends.  I lead a Bible study that night (sept. through mid may).  Do not schedule around me if Sundays work best for others that is cool and I will try and make the other solo night you guys chose to go with.  See you all in game.

weekends are bad for me as this is family time and why I miss the meetings =( .

I will be playing Kurtgrim the Monk. I am usually home by 3pm. PST. I am in Indiana and work in the mornings, so i could only stay up with you guys until 10pm EST. I'd like to try tanking in LFR, but I haven't ever done this before. I could also DPS or potentially heal as the monk too, but you guys would all probably die horribly if it came to me healing. I'd like to give it a shot sometime though! ;)
