Cold-Blooded Killers: The Sharks of Northrend
We began our travels in Northrend at Valiance Keep, the main landing area for ships leaving Stormwind for the frozen north. I brought along Rascal-Bot to be my photographer, and although the cold has caused some problems with his joints and his gear, he's done a great job. Here I am, scanning the horizon, gazing northeast toward an area where sharks are known to lurk. You can see a ship from Stormwind just arriving into port, the beam from the Farshire lighthouse piercing the freezing gloom, and the aurora borealis which are so bright they can even be seen by day!
I headed out of port on my trusty carpet, Rascal-Bot balancing precariously alongside me. We were both scanning the water, looking for signs of the great beasts lurking beneath. And soon we spotted some, just where the friendly fisherman in Valiance Keep had said they would be, near an old wreck just off shore. We approached cautiously and beheld the beast, a Great Reef Shark.
The coloration on this beauty is simply amazing, something between mulberry and puce. And look at the size of that dorsal fin. What a monster! We swam in for a closer look...
And quickly decided that we had possibly pushed our luck a little too far. We got out of there quick. I wouldn't be a very good host, would I, if I were shark meat!
On our way out of the area, we stumbled on this funny fellow, who seemed to be looking for something in the wreckage. I can only imagine that pole thing he's carrying is for checking sand depths or possibly prying open crates of sunken goods, although he waved it at me in a rather unfriendly manner.
We left him to his treasure hunting and returned to Valiance Keep for a well-earned cup of honeymint tea. I don't think I'll ever develop a taste for seal whey.
