Oops I think I posted this under the wrong spot first :-) Who do I get to fix that?
I have been working on a guide for a while now and at this point I am feeling like I am never going to finish it. There is some very useful info I wanted to share so we can plan and strategize accordingly before launch.
I spent several hours, creating items and monitoring xp gain. It became very simple and in my testing I discovered that for blacksmithing it is most efficient for xp gain (inspiration, whatever for my sanity I will call it xp) to craft level 6 daggers or belts. You also gain xp for extracting items. I noticed that items I picked up on quests gave me far more xp than items I had created and then extracted.
Example:
A level 6 dagger I just created and then extracted gave me 36xp for the extraction. When I put that in the bank and gave it to an alt that same level 6 dagger gave me 272xp. That is a 750% increase from if you extract the item you just created by the same character that created it!
My thought on how to utilize this is have crafting partners. Crafter Hanz creates 25 level 6 iron daggers. Crafter Franz creates 25 level 6 daggers. They then trade or mail those daggers to eachother. But you say wait wait wait, look at all the time it will take to mail 25, 50, 100 daggers to a partner……is it worth the investment? The answer is HELLZ yes! If hanz was to extract his own 25 level 6 daggers he would have an experience gain of 900….impressive….however if Hanz were to shoot those over to Franz and vice versa Hanz and Franz would be looking at a happy return of 6800xp.
This takes more time yes….but it is sooooo worth the time. Now I have also tested this with alts. So if you are antisocial and don’t want to mess with a partner, or perhaps your partner is not online and you have to extract those daggers right now! You can simply put the 25+ daggers in the bank and log on with another character, pull out the daggers and go extract them. So you can be leveling 2 characters at the same time. If you want 4 characters all with miner hireling 3 pretty fast. This would be a great strategy to accomplish that task.
Let me know what you think. I have a lot more where this came from. The same strategy works with woodworking and clothing. Let me know if you want to partner with me in this venture. I do not plan to jump hardcore into crafting from the starting gate. From my experience it is much more efficient to push to level 10, hit cyridel and get all the skyshards possible etc and then start investing the time in gathering and crafting, but that is another strategy for another post.
