AvA General question

Ok, as a rule I am a HUGE fan of PvE and dungeon running. TESO however seems to be the game to get me to change that. Currently I am a lvl 13 healing spec, cloth wearing Templar. Should I roll a DPS as my first foray into AvA or can I be viable as is. Also, is there a recommended LVL I should be before I devote time to AvA? I know it equalizes everyone's lvl but to be effective, does it matter? Just looking for some feedback and some tips.

You can AvA as a healer if you're with a group. I wouldn't try it solo. :)

Since most people are still leveling, starting AvA at level 10 is fine. Once the majority of people start to reach 50 VR10 and gear up, that will probably change.

It does a very poor job of equalizing levels and there is a massive difference between a level 50 char and sub level 50 chars.

Having said that you can still have fun and contribute, especially in a zerg - just realise that if a 50 focuses on you you're probably going to melt and don't let that get you down, one day you'll be 50 and things will be better.

Healing is even one of the better roles for that since you'll be further back.

Remember the most important rule of AvA though... Have Fun.

its easy to get into a large group in ava and heal away, mystborn is correct, someone who's wearing level 50 gear and skills will clearly have an advantage even though your stats are boosted to level 50 but when youre in a large group you should be fine, so far i havent been killed by another player in ava and im only level 11... ive died to other things tho :D

off topic but for AvA related:  Where I can buy soul gem with alliance point in cyrodiil? I might have missed the vendor I visit.

You can buy soul gems at any keep EP owns, usually the siege merchant is near the portal.  (The ones in Northern and Southern Morrowind can be harder to find)

If I'm in AvA and I'm healing only, do I still get any kind of credit for assisting or do I have to tag enemies?

You'll earn AP for healing people who have recently taken PvP damage.

You'll also get a share of the AP for any kills your group gets (if you're in one).
