Falling through Tamriel

So there I was. Little lvl 9 Knight.  About to pray at brazier when the gods must have got angry and threw me through the ground.  I tried to move (/stuck) and it caused a surge of pain (killed me) to only see that I was still falling.  So what do you think I did?  What any sane person would do.  Took out my Dwemer memory preserver device and captured the setting sun forever (screenshot).  Was going to share this memory with you all but I lack the know how to post pictures from my device.

BTW. I stopped falling when I had an out of body experience...(log out).

Excellent! (not that you fell through the world) You created a great story and conjured up a mental picture, that need no Dwemer devise, for all to see in just a few words!

Haha, well put!  I am glad I'm not alone! This has happened to me twice now. The first time I even ended up in some under-world area not meant for the public: https://www.dropbox.com/s/96s363o3ymjv75j/Screenshot_20140405_120406.jpg. I bug reported it the second time. I got a little frustrated with the time sink and cost since I had to repair my damaged gear from dying and I managed to fall through to the other side of the zone and had to pay to wayshrine back to my husband. I hope it does not continue to be a reoccuring problem.

I opened a lockbox in Davons Watch it booted me into the sky, killed me and when i resurrected, I was at a wayshrine in a new place that I have never been.  I went to click on the wayshrine and it booted me back up in the air for endless falling and screaming.  I then hit the /stuck, did nothing, logged out to character screen, did nothing, logged out of the game completely came back and still falling endlessly above the Rift.  That time the /stuck, killed me and put me at a different wayshrine and I got to play as normal.  I did put in a bug report as having damaged gear from doing nothing is not great.

I've ended up in the sky too -- once while standing in the Mages Guild, and twice while standing at the bank (all in Davon's Watch). Relogging solved it on two occasions, but on the 3rd neither /reloadui or logging out worked. I ended up having to use /stuck (which fixed it, but killed me).

The falling problem has happened to me as well as 2 of my other friends.  Considering my circle of "close" questing friends has 6 people, this is a huge fail rate -- 50% affected.    My fix took a lot more diddling. I did 2 /stuck (Gak!  Repair bills are outrageous here); logged out several times; restarted the client a few times.  Eventually gave up and logged into an alt; later went back to my main and she was thrown out of the instance.

Who here had some add ons?  Could this affect the falling?

One of their many bugs that not only adds to the "time" sink but also to the "gold" sink.  I may start a thread about repairs on the ESO forum.  Though . .. .  I'm not convinced Zenimax is listening.  If there are; I'm not real sure where their feedback is.

Interesting point about the addons. I didn't have any installed the first 2 times I was ported into the sky, and the 3rd time I had ZrMinimap and XTimestamp (which just adds timestamps to the chat box) running.

I agree about the repair costs (it's part of the reason for my post about repairing items before banking or listing them in the store). It was repeatedly brought up during beta testing (along with the cost of merchant items).

I've seen a suggestion to remove all equipped items before using /stuck, to avoid a repair bill. Anyone tried this? (I was too distracted by the fact I was up in the sky instead of in the bank when it happened to me, never thought to do that).

Tyrra you are a genius.  Can't believe I did not even think to try unequipping when using /stuck....I have a mental image of myself as a donkey with a dunce cap on now... /sigh...:-P

That happened to me too.  I went into this house, I saw that there was a bed and chest floating in the back with a stairway leading down.  I thought 'hmm floating bed bug lol oh well lets see whats down stairs'.  next thing i knew i was falling under the world.

It happened to me while on my cat character, as I was falling Gatita screamed constantly.  My RL cat was sitting on computer desk, literally flew out of the room.  Took her about 3 days to dare enter the computer room.  Edited post to include this little bit of information.   I reported my falling through the world, what I did to try and fix it.  They told me that exiting the entire game, waiting 5 to 15 minutes was actually a soft boot.  That what has been the only thing I have done to get my character out of the void and on to solid ground.

This happened to me 3 or 4 times in beta and twice now since release. I'll have to keep in mind the unequipping advice if it happens again and logging out doesn't fix it.

One of the times I tried /stuck first not realizing it killed me. That didn't work so I tried /stuck again. That again didn't work. So then I tried porting to a wayshrine a couple times. That didn't work. Logging out a couple times finally did work. That was an expensive experiment.. lol.

I've... encountered this less as I left Stonefalls.  I'm not sure why, maybe just server stability improvements, and maybe just work by Zenimax to counter this issue... but I am pleased not to fall everywhere.  I still seem to zip and zoom my view in and out when harvesting though!
