Originally I was thinking of having alts in all factions, but with the ability to join any faction with any race now is there a reason to other than RP reasons?
You can see all factions on a single character with veteran content correct? I'm thinking I may stick all with EH as that will be our guilds primary faction. Any flaws with this that I'm not seeing?
My main characters are in EP. I have one character in each of the other two just to go through and level up in those areas. Isn't your starting zone determined by what faction you are in?
It is, but can't you do those starting zones as veteran content once you get that far?
You may be right, Trinak. I don't know the answer to that, though I'd like to know as well. I'll probably level up in those areas anyway, because I like my alts there, but if you can do them as veteran content that would be pretty cool.
Yea I was playing other factions until I found out you do the other factions quest areas as Veteran content. On one hand that is kinda neat that you don't have to play 3 characters to see all the story and can do it all on one but on the other hand it kind of kills replayability.
Yeah, it does harm replayability a bit. I think I'm going to just level up alts in those areas anyway, and then pick and choose what parts I want to do as veteran content.
For me - I have trouble liking the alts I make in EP - oh yes, I have made them... but for my first character I had a back story and knew exactly who she was and why she existed in the EP. She is a Wood Elf and I really like her so whenever I make another race I wish I had made a Wood Elf and then start thinking - "wait!, you have a Wood Elf you fool!"... so they make it to around 10 and then I let them sit and hold stuff I keep in storage.
Therefore, playing as another faction just isn't in the cards for me - it would lose my identity even more - even if I played a Wood Elf "over there" I would end up feeling weird. I totally realize that most players don't associate with their characters at the level I do - obsessively - so I believe everyone has a right to play as they want and just enjoy the game.
I join other faction with alts as a bank storage :)
I see that we can level AD DC content at veteran level so that's enough for me.

If you have many alts you might want to put some of them in other factions, otherwise running through bleak rock and stormfall many time will get old fast.
Level alts in other factions for a bit is a good change of pace too.

This. I've played through the EP starting areas so many times I detest them. Also, I think the AD story line is more interesting.
I've seen 66% of the world before we went live and still enjoying it! Okay, Bleakrock and Bal Foyen are old hat due to toooo many beta weekends in EP alliance, but even then still did them and will do them with any other alt I make. Right now I have three toons, one freshly made just to do something else fast for a glowy trophy thingy, but I'll mess with her anyway.
Why one in each? Because one, I've seen this all before, but enjoy trying it with different classes and even different setup for a class. Two, I want to see if I can get every single recipe this game has. Now I know sometimes low things drop for provisioning in some of the vet areas, but not all of them. Three, I like mixing things up.
I'm really taking my time with the game now that it is live instead of busting through it testing everything. Even so, I'm still 26 on the main, 12 on one alt and have my noobie 4 almost 5. ::chuckles:: Also doing a lot of crafting. All this around when I'm not reading good books, interviewing for a cool at home job that will fill my mornings, dealing with pets, hanging with the hubby, etc etc etc. :)
