Extending the Family

To Whom This May Concern,

First off, I want to say thank you for inviting me to this fantastic guild. The family has been very welcoming and fun to play with. I enjoy doing huge Guild events such as the Trinity events and such. However, Warhammer Online is not the only game I enjoy.

I was wondering how or if it is possible to extend the family into another game, Final Fantasy XIV. By extend, I mean creating a new guild (Linkshell in FFXIV) that follows the Gaiscioch name and rules.

For those of you who are interested in Final Fantasy XIV, it is a pure PVE game with heavy story focus, with a small chance of PVP in the future. Currently, the game is in so-so shape. There is a lack of hardcore content to do, since the game was just released two months ago. However, looking back on it's predecessor, Final Fantasy XI, I can tell you now that this game will become great.

So thoughts and comments about the idea?

Greetings Elelwen, Welcome to the family :). I love your enthusiasm. It would be nice to have a branch over in Final Fantasy but to be able to open an official branch we need a Maithean who's willing to play it as their primary game. To lead one must have proven their commitment through leading events, helping with the family, and have spent enough time with us to know how we work and why we work so well. To have a new comer try to duplicate it just by namesake would not end so well. At this point I'd encourage you to find any other Gaiscioch/Tuatha who play the game and band together. There is a ton of work that goes into making a new branch, both by the person opening it and myself who has to code the site to handle it. With the RIFT and Guild Wars branches opening so soon tossing another into the mix is simply bad timing. Perhaps in the future when there is more interest we can look into this venture but for now we need to focus on what we currently have. This being said we have a group currently playing Lord of the Rings online who have banded together to form a LoTRO guild. If you can get enough people wanting to play I can create you a ventrilo channel so you can hang out together. I'm not opposed to that idea. Ben

Ben, First off, thanks for the prompt response. I am more than willing to lead the Final Fantasy XIV branch of the guild, as I have had over 5 years experience playing Final Fantasy XI, and help run many linkshells (Guilds) there. However, due to my naturally low rank I am ready to prove myself not only to you, but to the family in my ability to lead. As a warning to anyone who is interested in joining my journey into Eorzea, the game will eat any computer that was built two years ago. The -RECOMENDED- specs for this beast of a game are as followed: CPU: Intel core i7 (2.66 GHz) quad-core/AMD Phenom IIx6 (2.7 GHz) OS: Windows 7 RAM: 4 GB or more GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 with 768 memory/ATI HD 5830 with 768 Memory or higher Any screen with 1280x720 or higher resolution A gamepad is recommended, but not necessary. Don't worry those of you who wish to venture out to this new world, for Final Fantasy XIV will be launched in March for the Playstation 3. By then, the game will see it's second release, and possibly the first expansion as it was with FFXI. The game will be fully polished and will be available to those not wishing to shell out $200+ to play. Another warning about this game. YOU CAN ONLY PICK ONE SERVER. I cannot stress this enough, because they very rarely allow server jump. The developers want you to focus on one character, not have 10+ characters as in Warhammer. They even charge you an extra $3 a month for each additional character. Because of this, all the races have no advantages over the other, other than height, it's all cosmetics. So anyone wanting to play the game with me, please choose the Melmond server. Edit: The recommended specs are for those of you who want to turn up the graphics to max. I'm playing on an ATI HD 4870, 8GB RAM, and an AMD Phenom II x4 (2.6 GHz) and I get very little lag with the graphics turned down slightly.
