Well based off of Bentmer's idea of starting a thread for discussing various games and MMO's we've all tried, I figured I'd go ahead and start one off since it seems like fun.

That means everything, PC games, console, or MMO's. It can be your personal reviews on one, or just a cool story you experienced and would like to share with the rest of us. It doesn't have to be in response to anything anyone else has posted, just something you'd like to share.

Planescape: Torment. As I mentioned in the MMO suggestions thread, this was one of those games that struck me hard enough that it may forever stay at the top of my personal favorites. I tend to like the darker, grittier, games, so this was right up my alley. I think I played this game at LEAST 12 to 20 times before I stopped finding new story content. I highly recommend this game to anyone that would enjoy a game with a lot of reading. I'd say it's somewhat on par with how dark and gritty WAR is.

I'll post some more later when I have a bit more time.

My Favs. Shooters: S4 League is one of my favorite shooters. Monday Night Combat is a very close second. Global Agenda is a solid third. And Borderlands is too great to even get a number, its label is God. I like shooters that are not test of reaction time and are more test of skill. Modern Warfare 2, black opts, and even the halo games could all be labled LAME! Fighters: I suck at fighting games in general but my favs are Soul Caliber series (pre-4), and the Smash Bros. series. These are the only fighting games that have any sort of balance at all, and that's even debatable. Racing: F-Zero is number 1! Silly Racers like Mario Kart and Sega All Star's come in second. BTW it was proven that ppl that play "realistic" racing games get more speeding tickets then ppl who don't. Casual: Plants Vs Zombies and Beat Hazard. Their simple. Adventure: Mario Games, Sonic Games, and anything made by Krome! Strategy: Red Alert 1-3! Most Fun and entertaining time-sinks ever! MMORPG: Ragnarok Online i played for 7 years, after that I experimented with several hundred other free and trial MMOs with some of my friends from rag. They eventually settled in WoW, while I was getting hooked on Warhammer. Took 2 long breaks from Warhammer in which I tried several other newer free MMO's and Aion. Always went crawling back to War Eventually. Hopefully Rift will break the cycle. I even got a few of my old Rag guildies in the beta!

I haven't played a shooter in a very long time. I spent a couple of years playing SOCOM and SOCOM 2 on the PS2 with a big group from work a long while back. That was a whole lot of fun. The same can be said for racing. I played more Gran Turismo and GT2 on the PS2 than I care to mention. For casual play, I'd play Desktop Tower Defense. This game was fun because it was simple in design, but could become quite complex as you got deeper into it. I'm pretty much just an MMO guy these days. I started out with WoW and played for a very, very long time. After that, I move on to Age of Conan and then to WAR when it released. I stopped WAR for a long time and played DDO. I took another long break and then went back to DDO after Andine and I got married. We finally ended up back with WAR and have been happy since. Our next games will be Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3. We're excited!

I've been playing World of Goo on the Ipad. It's a physics based puzzle game where you manipulate globs of goo to form structural pathways that lead you to giant vacuum hose thing that sucks them away. It's a super addictive game. My better half refuses to let me play with the Ipad anymore because she loves the game so much. It's available on the PC too, I'm not sure how much it is. I'm excited for Diablo 3 too! But it looks like next year before they'll release it. :(

Imma work on getting some of my near hour long game-rants down on paper or sound recorded so I can put one up here. I think I'll start out with...comparing Morrowind with Oblivion. Maybe a little overdone, but it's something I can go on about.

That's what the internet is for, ranting. lol. I mean how many people in real life would willingly sit down and listen to us talk on and on about a computer game? :) On another sorta related topic. When you're playing a good aligned character in a RPG and you loot those empty boxes or barrels all over the world, is that considered out of character or would that be ok? lol.

@Bentmer: Rule number 1 of computer RPG's: If it isn't nailed down it belongs to me. So, IMO it's not out of character. ;) Let's see favorite games: MMO: Currently Rift, I played WoW, WAR (was destruction on Badlands so I never really met you guys in WAR), AO, City of Heroes (and Villains), AC, LoTRO, was in the beta of ACII (failboat of a game IMO). Played AC and WoW the longest 4 and 6 years respectively, I still load and play City of occasionally. Just tried DC but it's too made for PS3 and not for PC, I'd need to buy a console style controller to get the most out of it. FPS: Doom, Doom II, Quake 1,2,&3, Unreal Tournament 2004, AvP, TF2, and Day of Defeat. RTS: Dawn of War and Dawn of War II, I admittedly suck at RTS games. I play those 2 because I love Warhammer and Warhammer 40k. RPG's: The entire Elder Scrolls saga (I'll disappear from Rift for a couple of weeks when Skyrim comes out), Fallout (all of them from both studios), Dragon Age: Origins, and so many more in this category. RPG's are my main gaming weakness.

Neat Idea for a thread. I'll jump in with some musings. Older PC games I have played over and over include Master of Orion (1 & 2), Fallout 1 & 2, Diablo 1 & 2 and Panzer General. More recently I've enjoyed Torchlight. I've yet to finish Fallout 3 or Mass effect. I got distracted by Warhammer. I didn't play any of the early MMO's. The only one I regret having missed is dark Age of Camelot. I'd love to see a modern relaunch of DAOC someday. LOTRO is the best PVE MMO I've played. It's greatly improved since launch and is well worth a look. I'm looking forward to SWTOR, Diablo 3, and the next Torchlight (co-op!). I'm also curious about Mythos under it's new ownership. I plan to try both DDOand the original Guildwars as time allows. Might pick up Dragon Age Origins as well.

Speaking of older games, Hero's Quest(Later renamed to Quest for Glory) was my very first computer game. I actually grew up with those games, and was so incredibly sad when it ended at 5. @SeraphDust; Looking forward to reading that rant. lol @Bentmer; Honestly, in games like those I could almost never play a 'pure good guy' role anyways. Even when I did, I just thought of it as "Oh, well they'd WANT me to have this... I am saving them from... some... big.. evil.... *yoink!**run*" I've never been one for FPS games, but Bioshock was the one for me. My first online game was Diablo, unless you count my cousin and I playing Warcraft 1 over dialup 'online'.

I'm not that much into FPS but I dig some RPG/FPS hybrids like BioShock, System Shock and Deus Ex. I'm a big fan of Deus Ex and I consider it the perfect game. It got everything right. The dystopian setting, the gameplay, the story. That's why I'm really excited about Deus Ex: Human Evolution. I'm also a big fan of Thief. I had tons of fun playing this games back in the day. Thief 4 is also in development but I don't know when it'll come out. As for RPGs, I could make a list. But I'll just do my top 5, and they are: Planescape: Torment, Fallout 2, Arcanum, KotOR and The Witcher. I also love the game The World Ends With You for Nintendo DS. Its gameplay is pretty fun but I love it mostly because of its graffiti-styled visuals. I used to play a lot of adventure games too. My favorites are The Longest Journey, Beyond Good & Evil, and Heavy Rain for PS3 For RTS, I love the ones developed by Relic (Company of Heroes, Dawn of War). I still love StarCraft. I had tons of memories playing it with my friends. I never really got into MMO until recently. The first game I tried was LotRO during its release. Then I tried WoW after that, and WAR and Aion. WAR is probably my favorite of all the MMOs I've tried.

MMO: Rift right now. DAoC in it's glory day was awesome, SWG was great until the CE/NGE mess, Anarchy Online, but my all time fav was Shadowbane even though it was full of bugs. FPS: The Battlefield series, have logged way too many hours in those lol. The original Unreal Tournament, Day of Defeat and MoHaa. RPG: Baldurs Gate, Neverwinter Nights series, Vampire the Masquerade:Bloodlines(love it), Deux Ex, Borderlands, and even though it got bad reviews Alpha Protocol. Have played through it 3 times and enjoyed it each time, it probably has the best story interaction speech system I've seen. Strategy: Axis and Allies, Shogun Total War, Ruse Fighters: Samurai Showdown, King of Fighters, Street Fighter, BlazBlue, Guilty Gears Casual: Puzzle Quest and Plants vs Zombies Freebies: The Ur-Quan Masters (Star Control), and older game that was great space exploration fun. Can be downloaded free from liberatedgames.com.

I love the Total War series but my favorite was the first Medieval one. That's probably only because you could abuse the crusade system and gather cheap hordes of soldiers as a Christian country lol. And I think I have to mention Diablo 2, which single handedly caused more cases of carpal tunnel syndrome then any other game before it lol.

Let's see... games that left an impression... I have always been dead average in FPS games, though I put a heck of a lot of hours into Unreal Tournament and the Battlefield series. The Jedi Knight FPS's were fun for a bit, too, especially firing blasts into Lightsaber scrums. Actually, my best moments were as a Commander in BF2 - I was so-so in the field, but I did really good as commander, and led LAN teams to victory more than once. Just don't ask me to fly an aircraft. RTS games... oh, how many you were. I most liked Total War: Kingdoms, Starcraft (not II, though - enough was enough), Dawn of War I and II, and the very first good one, Dune II, which ate away many of my college hours. Everyone had to like Diablo II, I think, and Titan Quest, the first Dungeon Siege, and Torchlight made for some good fun. Racing games, eh, not so much. Gran Turismo was fun for a bit, but we need more games with ARMED cars. Does Carball (with the UT Engine) count? THAT was fun. And MMO's... cut my teeth on Guild Wars, got sucked into EVE, dumped that for LOTRO, Fallen Earth, Champions Online, AOC, and now Rifts. It took AOC to make a big RPer out of me, and the bug stuck. I won't bother going back to the Atari 2600 / C64 / Amiga days. That would be just too, too much.

Hey all, new to Gaiscioch here but certainly not to computer games, haha. Lemme see... MMO: I tried WoW back in my Navy days and it was fun for a time, until I learned the hard lesson of how a PvP server really works and that bored kids with their lvl 60 toons like to camp your body. Bye-bye WoW and I found myself playing DDO which I'll still occassionaly play with my hubby. I also tried LotR and Guild Wars. I finally ended up on War for a couple of years with one or two long breaks. Now, though, I am a Rift girl. RPG: Neverwinter Nights 2, Oblivion, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Alpha Protocol, Knights of the Old Republic, Fallout 3 and Las Vegas. In fact, when Dragon Age 2 comes out I might just be absent from Rift for a week or two, haha. I love these sorts of games and my hubby has recently gotten me to try Baldur's Gate. As for all those RTS strategy games, bah, I leave those to my hubby. I cannot take over the world, even on the easy setting, showing that I am a terrible strategist. LOL

Current favorite MMO: Lord of the Rings Online Favorite MMOs: Warhammer Online, Grand Fantasia, LotRO Favorite non-MMO: Just about anything with a plot and zombies. Though more specifically, the Silent Hill series(the second one being my favorite), and Dead Rising. Used to be a major Counterstrike player, though I wasn't very good. I miss playing FPS sometimes. Maybe I should get Left 4 Dead for the PC, I didn't really like the console version, I have trouble with all that dual stick working. Most anticipated MMOs: Guild Wars 2, Argo Online, and Secret World

Got a lot of memories with Diablo 1, I didn't get to enjoy Diablo 2 as much back when it was still hot, and I'm still on the fence with Diablo 3. Blizzard has really fallen since WoW imo, but every game deserves a chance. As Iso said, we're really looking forward to GW2, Argo, and seeing how Secret World pans out. @Iconix; Malkavian all the way.

I will probably get SW:TOR unless something really horrible happens to the game. I am excited for Diablo 3. Blizzard might cater to the lowest common denominator, but it's always a good time. I just hope my poor wrists will survive the encounter lol.

Going through some of my games the other day, I can't believe I forgot to mention the SMT label here. Absolutely love almost every game in the SMT 'series'. Persona, Digital Devil saga, and so on. I've always been fond of games based on occult type settings, and these games really hit the spot. Anyone else ever play some of those older adventure games? King's Quest, Space Quest, Quest for Glory, or even Leisure Suit Larry(The old ones, not these new failed attempts on the console)? These felt like gold to me growing up, and looking back now it makes me laugh at how 'good' I thought the graphics were back then. Speaking of which, you can actually play the remake of Quest for Glory 2 for free, as a group remade the game with the good graces of the company holder, along with several of the King's Quest games. http://www.agdinteractive.com/games/games.html
