Are you Gaiscioch?

I wanted to take a moment to discuss something that is continuously coming up on both sides.

Are You Gaiscioch?

If a man comes in to your home and relieves himself on your carpet are you going to stand by and offer him some coffee?

If they then sit in front of your child and teach them a full new vocabulary that you later will have to have a long uncomfortable talk about, are you going to feed them dinner?

If your with us, your with us. Our home is yours. My kin are your kin. My child is your child. WE are Gaiscioch. This house is ours.

We hold ourselves on a higher bar than any other guild. Both as human beings and as players. We expect all of you to respect one another enough to live by our credo, follow our rule, and make sure that everyone who enters our home displays the same amount of respect you do.

We can not allow outsiders to come in and desecrate our sanctuary. The day you joined us you knew we had 1 Rule. Blades Out, Not In.

No GAISCIOCH should EVER attack another member of the family. This does not mean that if you have a problem with someone you cant talk to them. This means that you should keep hateful and spiteful remarks out of your conversations, work to resolve issues peacefully in a friendly manor. This does not mean ignore them. This means be respectful enough to try to approach an issue face to face. If you need a moderator come to me and I'll help. The more we bury hate behind the scenes in our family the more we're sitting on a ticking timebomb. The best way to resolve an issue is to talk it out. Sometimes you need to step away to let the rage simmer but come back when your calm and try to sort things out peacefully.

In addition please please please, be respectful of your fellow members. Keep both Guild and Public chat free of foul language, derogatory terms, racism, inappropriate topics that should be left for adult bedrooms. Before 9PM Server guild chat is STRICTLY PG. If your caught violating you will be warned once, then removed. After 9PM it is PG-13 however I ask that you be mindful of what shadow you cast. A foul word here in there after 9 is one thing. Discussing topics you would never discuss in front of a child is another. Lets keep our good name in tact and keep this family friendly. There is no need for such discussions in public channels. It doesn't help our image at all and makes it that much harder to dispel the hateful comments thrown at us..

Outwardly, our reputation is our coat of arms. It is our sacred banner that we hold close to our hearts and tells the world of who we are. Each and every one of you wears our banner above your head with pride. By association all of us are known through that name. Members who act out of rage, anger, smite, and spill lewdness over public channels taint our name. They stain it with the blackest of ink and it takes a lot of hard work to rub out. Do not stand idly by while someone tramples on your home, on your sanctuary. The GAISCIOCH is YOURS to protect.

EACH and EVERY one of you is a member of this family. You are all brothers and sisters to one another. Your pains are our pains, Your successes our successes. Your reputation is our reputation. Be careful of the shadow we cast. Make sure that it is one of Benevolence, kindness, honor, respect, integrity, and fellowship. We want to be known for these things. Not the tainted name that spills out through the few. We must stand today and fight for our honor. Do not allow a few to taint our house. You are all protectors of what we have built. GAISCIOCH by definition means PROTECTOR.

I ask you all today, that if you see misdoings going on type /log or print screen and send me the files. Protect your family and make us stronger through your actions. Do not allow the actions of a few to taint the name of many. This is our house, and you are GAISCIOCH. Protect your house, protect your family, protect your honor. We built this house and can not stand by while others see it to ruin.

The world wants us to Fail. They will take any chance they can to balloon a short coming into an elephant in the room if given the chance. We can score a hundred touchdowns but they will only notice the one dropped pass. The world wants us to fail. Be sure that we don't. Stand strong and proud Gaiscioch. I love you guys and I am proud to call you all my Family.

nicely done Fog. I love my family and would never do anything to hurt any of you.

Oh yes this is a good one. I had the unfortunate experience of being a port of scion instance and Im trying quite unsuccessfully to take down this mage when I realize she was Gaiscioch na Nuada and I was completely mortified. I felt like I was attacking my best friend. I immediately backed off and still had frequent tab targeting errors. I do not remember her name but I want to let her know how whole heartedly sorry I am!!

Now now hopeful. In Warfronts if you see a red name you make sure they are fighting you with everything they got. We dont become stronger warriors by going easy on each other. You only get better by playing someone better than youself. We PvP to train our skills, to become better warriors. There are no hard feelings between 2 Gaiscioch in a warfront. One knocks the other down and then helps them back up to do it again. Eventually the young warrior will grow stronger by constantly being beaten. Salute your Gaiscioch counterpart and let them show you just how strong the Gaiscioch are. Don't let them go easy on you and don't go easy on them. Help each other grow stronger!

All of us in this family should step back and think before chatting in guildchat, in any public chats, rp in any public place and say, "would I do this in front of a child", "would I say this in front of a child". We have a wonderful family here, and we all need to do our part to keep our family and our children safe. We have the eyes of the server, the eyes of the gaming world on us. Every little remark or inuendo comes back at us 10 fold. Be good, be safe, be Gaiscioch! "giant gaiscioch hugs"

And as I have joked on the D side - I'm Mama Bear and now we are rated G! ::chuckles:: I am probably more adament about some things than Ben, but the cool thing is people respect me for it and I respect where they are even I don't always agree. =D So it's okay not to agree. It is bad to turn that disagreement into discord or throw it out to the whole family instead of working directly with the one you need to. Seen this blow apart many things I've been in charge of or at least an officer of in game and out of game. I'm going to love the stuffing out of you even when you try to change my mind otherwise. HA HA!

Leira, Your post was hidden until moderated. Not deleted. You posted it during telara saga. Don hid it until I had a chance to read it. I'm sorry that this is the way you feel. Why did you not come talk to me? I've been on vent all day. Why didn't you pull me asside and say hey this is up. Your post was very vague and I honestly have no clue what your talking about. You mention no names, I've recieved no email. You simply called us hypocrytes without even pointing at the problem at all. So if that makes me a bad leader, then im sorry to disappoint. We have 2,500 people in this family in 2 different realms. I can't be everywhere all the time. If you have a problem you should come talk to me. I've kicked several people out in the past WEEK for violating blades out not in. YOU chose to flame and rage on the forum instead of resolving the issue. I'm on vent. Gaiscioch or not, I welcome you to come talk to me and tell me whats up. I don't bite, and you know that. Fog

Every time we lose a member due to a misunderstanding, it feels like we lost a limb. Talk to Fog if you ever have a problem WITH ANYTHING. You'd be surprised at how easy it is to resolve a problem. I've gone to Fog more then a few times for advice, not only is he an awesome leader but he is an awesome person. I've had the opportunity to talk to him a few times on a casual basis, I recommend it. It is an experience in and of itself.

I am a mother of 7 childern .. Fog has 2500 not saying we are children but we are child like at times. We play games, we laugh, we kick the dirt, we challenge ourselves sometimes beyond our means. We position ourselves, we try to please, we look up to others for heros. We look for role models in the peers that we run with. We also hurt, cry, and sometimes hide. But the main thing we must always remember we are a family and these are like brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, uncles, aunts and yes even grandmothers and grandfathers. We are a family unit and we are a target cause we are the biggest family in the neighborhood. Do we have envy against us? Maybe but what we should always think before we act is maybe the other person doesn't have the strong family unit we do, we should show love and respect to all around us. Not just our family but others that run with our family. We want the other kids on the block to tell us that we are lucky we have the Father we do and basically would he adopt them too and can we welcome them into our family also. Remember this is a game, but it is our game at the moment to enjoy and hopefully make a better place to be in while the hours we are here. I have friends that have never played games and when I talk to them about the game and the people I play with they are astonished most of the time that there is another place out there that exist. They sometimes look at me like I have a third horn, but then say they love that I have a game and place that I go that makes me smile and be happy. They sometimes say they wish they new how to be as happy and content with life as I am. Maybe this sounds silly to some. But, in the real world there are things going on that most of us can't escape and run from. There are people everyday that go to bed hungry, worry about whether they will have a job the next day or even a house over their head. When I can I help out my neighbors in need and if i have two loaves of bread and I see someone with none I will give up one. I have been in this world along time and I have seen so many changes in this world, I never thought I would be frighten for what my children's children would have to face. But that is life and we have what we made it to live with. This is our family and we need to glow with pride. Think of the family crest that we wear on our armour because that name under our heads while we play is it. Make your way in this world and represent this shield like you would lay down your life for it. Keep it shiny and don't let yourself or others tarnish it. Love, honor and respect at all times and trust me you will be happier to be here for it. I love my gaming family and if I can help any of you by listening please see me in game... hugs.

Thank you for putting this out. I have great admiration and respect for this family and it hurts (and embarasses me) when I witness "one of us" making Gaiscioch or Na Nuada look like elitists. Every action, every word, speaks volumes about the person behind the keyboard. Take a moment to think about how you will be perceived.

It is posts like these, the confirmations of the Gaiscioch beliefs, that really define Gaiscioch from the rest of the rabble. I've been part of quite a few guilds in the past that felt they were on the moral high ground, only because it said so on their site, but were really just the same as the guilds that they thought they were above. However, in Gaiscioch (as you all would know) we more or less actually adhere to the rules and guidelines that we impose upon ourselves. That is what makes us so great, that is what makes known and revered by those who do. And that is why, even though I don't even play anything with the Gaiscioch (and I can't even say I've had that experience in the past, either), I still stay loyal to this guild, waiting for the game-that-shall-be-named, Guild Wars 2, in the anticipation of playing with what seems to be the greatest establishment of mature players on the internet. On a more saddening note, I am sincerely sorry, it very much bothers me, that events unfold that require posts like these to be made in the first place. People should know what kind of behavior is expected of them when they join the guild, or at least adhere to basic common-sense rules of human decency toward one another on guild chat or vent. Like Fog said in the post, every one of us carries the guild reputation with us, and it is ours to protect. Everyone has the ability to protect it. It is a matter of willing not to protect it when one would besmirch the Gaiscioch name. And if you will not protect our name, our coat of arms, our reputation, then you should not even wear it in the first place. That is all I have to say. Sorry about the serious tone/vocab. I'm in the process of getting a college edumacation and am in "essay mode" right now. :) So here’s a kitty for your troubles.

Well said, Fog. Thanks again for your leadership. Being the leader of a large family with all its personalities is a difficult task, but you do it so well.

It's hard to be good when our nature is bad.... It' hard to do right when it's so easy to do wrong... Life will knock you down. You can choose whether to get back up. I am glad to be a part of this family... It is good to remind ourselves of the Oath of Allegiance we all freely gave to Gaiscioch when we agreed to the Gaiscioch "House Rules, Credo and Etiquette Guidelines." As a Warrior I also give my sword and shield, my heart to each of you. I am Gaiscioch...
