Hey Everyone,
We will be doing promotions on our homepage every Friday and doing promotions in game every Saturday / Sunday. You will be eligible for 1 promotion per week however your points will continue to accrue and work you towards your next promotion benchmark and continue earning you family vault tokens. We are making this change for several reasons the first of which is to ensure that all new members of our family have proper time to evaluate our family through the Buirdeiseach, Treubh, and Muinntir ranks within the family before slamming into Lorgair. We are seeing an increase in players who are obtaining Treubh - Lorgair in their first week and want to give them a bit more time to learn about us and get to know us before they become an "Official Member of our Family". In addition this should allow Prissy to get back on the field and have some fun rather than spend all her time managing promotions every day.

In the coming weeks I will begin deploying the new Credo system which you will have to accept before your officially eligible for certain promotions. These credo's will outline the responsibilities and behavior expected of the rank you are about to become. It will also brief you on what to do in certain situations and give you a rough outline of what this new rank means for you and the family.

If you do not want the responsibility that comes with the rank you are about to earn, you are welcome to stay where you are and continue earning family honor points, merits, marks, and contribution to your hearts desire without the responsibilities that come with moving up into the officer and leadership ranks.

I'm hoping this will help clarify a lot of the confusion and help streamline things within the family. Plus give people the option to not advance but continue to accrue points and earn awards for doing so. Some of our members have expressed the desire to just participate without progressing and their purposely not claiming things because they don't want to be promoted. This will give them a way of doing so. Some people just want to play, others will want to help out any way they can. Our family is about both of these people and we want to make sure that they both enjoy their time here.

Foghladha

As a footnote, Your ability to raise your Warlord Rank (na Faolchu, na Cu, na Trionoid, na Iolar, and na Griobhta) will not be limited. These are award class not actual family ranks. Once you clear each bar you'll automatically earn your next warlord rank.

I think this is awesome to be honest, its a delicate pacing without hindering progress in a sense. Your able to still build the points up, but just like in most other places you wait for your promotion until not only your mentally prepared, but have a knowledge of what your promotion in-tells. I think there maybe some who complain that its another "hurdle" or "road block" but those who desperately seek power usually fail in using whats given to them correctly. Power doesn’t come from forcing people to listen to you and coercing them to do what you say (because you have the right title). Nope, real power comes by spreading your passion, giving people a reason to climb your strategic mountaintops and given them permission to shine/grow and Lead Without Title. Be there for people and they’ll be there for you. - Robin Sharma Keep the changes coming, we will eventually work all the bugs out!

I know that I leveled those first few ranks quickly before I even understood what the heck was going on. I leveled them simply by participating in the events (the reason I joined). I think this is another wise decision from our leadership. Most new members wont understand the ranking system for at least a month. It takes that first month to acclimate yourself to this huge world which is Gaiscioch, to get to know people and find your niche(s) within the family and tbh to learn how to pronounce the name. Crifting and Family events were my niches and now after a couple months Im ready to jump into the mixing bowl and find some new things to try. You have a hearty approval from me on this decision, for sure.

A wise man once told me "The Gaiscioch website is like trying to drink water from a fire hose." I think it's good that we give people some time to grow comfortable in things before we dump more on them.

As a newish member I completely agree as well, I jumped up to my current rank in a about month, and for the first 2 weeks I didn't even know about partipation til another guildie was asking questions about it. I am still learning about the guild and everything along with it, and slowly learning about the other members. Hell just learning the marketplace now and hopeing by next week to be lvl 50 so I can maybe start learning more about how raid groups, ect work. (lol sorry rambling) Anyway I love the idea about listing promotion responsiblities and having to ok it before you get one. I am loveing this guild and have alot of fun, and love helping people out, but... I prefer to be a "grunt" til I know what i have to do and if I can handle it. And I don't want/like to get in trouble for not doing what is expected of me. I dont mind leading if I know what I am doing, and have what I need (lol like a working mic). So I am hoping if you turn down a guild promotion that you can go back and except it at a later time? Well that is my crazy rant, thanks again to Fog, Prissy, Don and everyone else (sorry if not named still learning everyone) who work behind the guild to keep it running!! Cookies for all!!

This sounds like a good change to me. I think it is very reasonable to limit progression to a maximum of one level per week, while allowing points to still accumulate. I also think the credo system sounds good. It is always a positive to have information about what responsibilities you assume with a new role. Thanks for the update!

I can appreciate the ideas behind these changes. As someone who has worked through the ranks and is now in a leadership role I feel out of touch and disconnected from the bulk of the leadership in the guild. I have found my own leadership style that I hope embodies the goals of Gaiscioch as a whole, but I have not had other leaders attend my raids/events, or listen in on them in Vent, or otherwise participate somehow in order to provide me with feedback and guidance. I would appreciate feeling more connection with the other leaders and a sense of belonging with confidence that I am doing my job 'correctly'.

I will throw my support in for this change as well. If a new member joins the Telara Saga events alone, you get so many fellowship points that the first introductory ranks are gone before you know it. Which, as has been said, might be good for some but other members might want to slow down and understand things a bit better.

i really like that the roles and responsibilities of leadership will be clarified with the credo prior to promotion. thank you, family members, especially officers who have more "work" in their play for all you do.

There has been many changes to this Family and website during the short time I have been involved. I personnally believe this is one of the better that has come about. The "Credo" is long past due and will hoist the banner of Gaiscioch so that ALL can see we have standards and expectations of our members and leaders visable to all. Thank you to the Chieftain and all the Druids for the leadership you promote thru the examples you set.

I have not had issues with any changes this family has made since I became a part of it during Warhammer. Sure what I do in it now is way different than warhammer, but also this game is way different along with my knowledge level. I knew Warhammer VERY well when I joined the family so wound up leading rather quickly on raids. Here totally the opposite. My niche now is more like the encouraging, enthusastic and many times complete goofball that helps people overcome and enjoy the game and each other. Besides, even I have had some fun trying to wade through the changes when I suddenly popped up in Rift and found the family this summer. =D The Credo will be an awesome addition and is definitely needed as this family moves forward. Besides I just hit Seaimpin, so need a clue on how to do things as I gain rank.

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D

I really like this new change. There is nothing worse (at least for me) than to be thrown into something and having no clue what to do. I love this family and want to help any way I can (yes, even leading) however for a long time I was just learning the game and all the family's ways.

I'm looking forward to some guidelines, I'm constantly struggling with figuring out what exactly my role is and where my responsibilities lay. I also think the guild will benefit from every member making themselves more familiar with the group they joined and this being a requirement before ranking up is a good call. I sometimes do have the impression that "play like you want" is mistaken for "anything goes, we don't care". Some things shouldn't need saying but I'd like every guild mate to know there is one rule to follow I would sum up like this: Be a mensch! Sounds simple but isn't, and yet so many of you make it look easy. :) ---- Oh, one last thing: Fog, stop reading my mind! It is very user friendly to find the stuff I wish for on this site without having to bug you for it, but I do value my privacy! (Just kidding, but it's uncanny how often this happens.)

I quit Rift three days before Gaiscioch returned there. Must have fumbled my luck roll.

@wildflower Do you not knew about me. I have run several T2/T1 with you and your leadership has been very Gaiscioch. You have been polite, and understanding with people, I have not seen you kick any one, I have seen you help when you have nothing to gain, If i could give tokens of val. you would get one from me. Keep the good work up Wild. Now Ben i think that is a good idea, I know Lisa gets all tied up doing that stuff, and i also think the ranking is kinda over welming to a new person. I stand with you on this.
