Someone posted a link to this in the Rift pvp forum of all places. When this game comes out, I think it will be perfect for Gaiscioch. I'm getting all tingly just thinking about it.

Yeah I'm going to be all over that World pvp.
You know we're going to own the server were on :D mine as well throw up a Gaiscioch server :P
can't wait... can't wait... can't wait... [passes round a bottle of Guild War Whiskey]
Alright -- So I was skeptical, I admit. I thought it was silly that we were already lining up to join GW2 at the beginning of our Rift career, but after watching that video and then another and another and 20 more.. I am thoroughly sold. I will be making the switch when it comes time :)
I wish Gw2 had healers. Just doesn't feel right without them :(
I think they're going for a more cinematic combat system where dodges are actual dodges not a random die roll. With this type of system think about healers. We stand there and do the same thing over and over. There's no ammount of animation creativity that can make a healers moves exciting. I personally started playing a healer cause I was always without one. In this game I can play the class I love and not worry about how many healers I have. From my brief playtest at pax I can tell you the combat is exciting. Healers... well they just aren't exciting. Sorry.
Ooops! Sorry....my pants just fell down to my ankles....
Before I was excited about GW2, finding out that that world pvp is WvWvW...good lord..SOMEONE FINALLY COPIED DAOC'S THREE WAY FIGHT...why did it take so DAMN long....
And Arena fights aren't gear based...holy hell. F'in Fantastic.
This should be way too much fun.
EDIT: Just watched another Alex Rediculous' movies. Apparently your ENTIRE realm gets ranked based on how badly you beat the other realms in WvWvW fights. Realm communities are going to be INCREDIBLY important to nurture and grow as a result. I can't wait.

This looks like the PvP I have been looking for since DAOC. Instead of 3 realms though it is 3 servers..love it
Gotta pick a good server name. Maybe I can get them to put up a Gaiscioch server :D
The greatest thing about GW2 will be the no monthly fee. I will be able to get 2 Boxes now and my daughter and I can now help the Family on event nights. Now I just have to save up some more cash to buy another PC and upgrade my GFX card :P
that was going to be my question MikeyDee - is it still a one time payment like GW was? I know with the Eye of the North expansion they advertised that players would have all kinds of unique things added to their GW2 account, so does that mean if I want to join Gaiscioch in GW2 I'm going to need to dust off my GW account, buy EotN, and beat everything? The biggest problem I had with the original GW was that it required an active guild (imagine that, name like Guild Wars required guilds) and all the guilds I joined turned out to be pretty vapid.
We have a Gaiscioch in GW 1 if you need an invite let me know. I do SC's in GW weekly :)
I tried GW's a long time ago and there were several things I didn't like - and it seems they have adjusted that all in GW2 - so I know I will be picking it up. I might be behind the proverbial 8-ball by not having a GW's account and missing out on some stuff - but that is just the way it goes. I am most excited about "Guilds can take a Keep and have a place to hang out" I just know we want a keep :)
re RvRvR, he says "Guilds can claim their own keep, giving them a place to hang out". Chez Gaiscioch! "You can play GW2 to max level without ever having to PVE" omg, YAY!
@Elsimer - GW2 is free to play after game purchase. GW1 is not required to play GW2 nor is any of it's expansions. The whole deal with Eye of the North is that you can get rewards placed on your GW2 account based on the things you did or had in GW1. It has no real effect on gameplay that I know of, aside from cosmetic aspects, such as titles, mini pets, weapon and ranger pet skins.
Everyone can play GW2 to it's fullest without ever having touched the first one.
You can go to this link for an example of their item calculator of the rewards you can get via this method:

If you don't have a GW1 character to look at it, just enter in the name Alice Nox, and you can use mine to look through the goodies.
Really glad to see the family is getting geared up for GW2, Iso and I can hardly wait ourselves.

Cant wait for this... Rift just wasnt my kind of thing, but this looks AWESOME..Hope to see some Warhammer guildies again. Ox, if you read this i miss yah man! Hahaa
I kind of fizzled on Rift too. My MMO burnout resurfaced when I hit Rift's endgame.
But I'm super excited for GW2. I recently loaded GW1 back onto my pc and am trying to remember how on earth the game works. I didn't get very far and haven't touched it in almost a year so I'm a bit lost. Thinking I'll try a warrior in Nightfall.
Glad to see the guild will have a presence in GW2. Save me a seat.

does this mean that GW2 will not have the same ability and item unlock system that GW had? One reason I just couldn't get into the PvP in GW was that I was never the guy that had all the elite skills unlocked, could keep up with the constant tweaking, and had all the important equipment upgrades unlocked.
From what's been presented, you're correct. Skills will be based on the weapons you choose to use, race, class, and so forth. I think there may be some skill unlocking, but even that may just be progression based and not a matter of finding them like you did in GW1.
I cannot wait for this game. World PVP is something that I think is almost a necessity in this day and age.
