Best Buy starting GW2 pre-purchase orders April 13!!

I called my local Best Buy (in the US) and the salesman told me that starting tomorrow, Friday, April 13th, they can take pre-purchase orders (Standard and Collectors Editions). NOTE: According to the salesman, in order to Pre-Purchase and get into all Open Beta Weekend events, you MUST order GW2 online at Bestbuy.com. Afterwards, you'll be prompted to download the code for the game and then be able to get into the beta events.

4/13/12 Update: Update from Rubi @ Arenanet:

"We've got an update on Best Buy's status for Guild Wars 2 Pre-Purchase: Best Buy Canada is doing Pre-Purchase for the CE through their website. Aside from that they only have pre-order. Best Buy US is doing Pre-Purchase of the Standard Edition (Digital) and Digital Deluxe via their website only. There is no Pre-Purchase for the CE. ~RB2"

Arrrrgh! ... I'll wait a day or two for Best Buyto hopefully get their act together, then I'm just gonna get the Digital Deluxe edition from Anet. There is Gamestop, but I'll pass on them.

Unfortunately BestBuy won't be offering the Collector's Edition and I'm not spending a dime at Gamestop. This is a serious fail in offering options to customers for where to spend their money.

BestBuy was a last minute addition -- almost literally -- to the CE list (US), as it was announced on April 9th that they would have the CE. If not for that, I agree, Draegon, I would have stuck with the Digital Deluxe edition directly from Anet https://buy.guildwars2.com

Do you all think it would be worth the money to buy the full Collectors edition? I so can't wait for this game. To hang out with you all again. I sorely miss you all. Well, $150 is a lot of money, but for fan boys & girls, it's really tempting. Glad you snagged a copy, Azzra, sounds like it'll be awesome!

I just saw some news from Rubi @ Anet stating that Best Buy in Canada will have the CE. However, due to complications, Best Buy in the US will not. (quote in the first post)

I saw Rylock first hand he's huge. He's about 12 - 14 inches tall and about 10 - 12 inches wide. Very very nice quality. If it was an Asura i'd be buying the collectors edition too ;P

I pre-purchased the digital standard edition, couldn't wait for the open beta!

Sadly, I will not be buying the CE. While it may be worth the extra money, I have purchased 1 to many CE's (Warhammer Online) and my wife has threatened DIRE consequences. I'm not even sure I want to get the Deluxe edition, not sure if the in-game items are worth it. Has there been any info about the parts of Beta that will be available to the Pre-Orders? I get the impression that it is just the last few days before release.

I bought the CE through Gamestop. I don't like Best Buy the same you guys don't Gamestop. :) Although more options would be nice for the CE.

Stellarus, if you pre-order instead of pre-purchase, there isn't a guarantee that you'll get into the weekend beta events. (According to the GW2 site, the first is near the end of April and more will follow.) Pre-ordering will get you a one day head start into GW2, while pre-purchasing will give you three days.
