So having your computer crash during Head start period and launch day would NOT be a good thing. If you have a name you wish to save that is.
So my question is..... If I reserve several names on head start day with generic characters. And then a month or two later I am ready to roll my real character, can I quickly delete the generic character and grab the name I reserved or is it forever locked?
They don't appear to say. My thoughts from what they said, is that you have the name on the generic placeholder character, but once you delete that character then the name would be freed for general use. My concern with making placeholder characters, is what if I am wrong. That being said during the beta weekend event I was able to remake some characters with the same name immediately after deletion of the old character with that name.
If I were you Cetacea is just make that character that you believe would be the character that gets that name...ie class, look, race, etc. If it turns out you can't get that name back once it's used by any character, you're pretty safe.
I love that picture :D Invader Timm heheheheheh I really can almost picture it hehe Tell your daughter she did good work on it :D I kinda like invader zimm if you can't tell ;P
See that is the problem... each character will take me at least an hour if not more to create. I have to touch all the shiny buttons before I can say this is the character I want to spend 300+ hours staring at.... :X So with that logic I will spend one entire day doing nothing other than character creation to assure I get both the name and the perfect look, race, and class I want... lol.
lol She said to say "Thank you Saren". It really means a lot to her when she hears of people who get a smile from her comics or drawings. I'm not sure why but when I first saw an Arura with it's golem, Invader Zim was the first thing that came to mind lol. Small and some times (depending on the Asura) a bit maniacal. Insert my real name "Tim" with an extra "m" and I'm hoping to have a very fun RP character. A sort of "Come GIR, this Green world shall be the first to fall to the might that is TIMM!!" *insert raised clinched fists here plz* "MWA Ha ha ha ha" lol

You know.. if you didn't have a claim on it, it kinda (almost) inspired me to make a play on it as well lol Usually I like trying to create new random names (in games that kinda fit myself and my mood when creating) but it is such a great (and funny, in a good way) idea that given the chance, I probably would have tried it. I have made parody characters in MMO on occasion when I could pull it off heheh The best MMO I was able to pull off some really cool "remakes" though to this point was City of Heroes hehehe I really can picture Zim as an asura though heheheheh
Yeah the remake I really want to do is an Asuran Engineer to look like Stewie, If I can pull it off I'll be make a ton of macros for that toon alone.
There are going to be some tough choices for what I make my main names into. The more alternate choices will take less time, and I'm still thinking about characters, which names, and hoping the other two races are in the next beta weekend event.
I'm not sure that I want to have high level alternates in GW2 with how important exploration seems from the BWE to character development. Maybe just a Rogue, with the others more for crafting or pvp.

I'm actually hoping they won't have the other races open for the BWE. I don't want to ruin the excitement of the first play through to only lose my beloved character in a beta wipe. I become very attached to my toons and the adventures we have together. And I know I do not have the will power to not go and take a peek at the opening cinematic and starting area for the races I want to main. I plan on playing both a sylvari and asura as my main toons. Not sure on profession yet, letting the BWE help me decide that. I never had a desire to play a human because.... well.. I play one in real life every day ;) So I thought doing BWE on human would allow me to see the content I would miss because I would avoid the race like the plague when the game released. However, my plan has backfired and I've grown very attached to my little human ranger and the adventures we've had thus far in Tyria.
@ Oldmanjenkinz I had not heard of Invader Zim until now so decided to google it to better understand the parody. I just watched the first episode via you tube and love it. I now have something to watch on my free time during my business travels. Thanks for the find!
