So other than cooking, weapon/armor crafting I havent seen much on crafting. I know that there are crafting professions that are involved  with Jewelry. Are there any good articles that you all have found that talk about the specifics of crafting and what each crafting profession will cover?

Thanks Nightfall

Well it's not really an article per se, but a good place to start is the official wiki page: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Crafting It tells you what professions make what and some of the recipes that are in game. But basically 3 professions deal with different armor types, bags and runes. 3 professions work with different weapons and then the only ones left are cooking and jewelry. So the link should give you a good basis for what you will like to know. I think the crafting professions I'm going to go for once the headstart starts up is going to be cooking and jewelry for it's universal usability. I'm just glad that you don't lose your progress in any of the professions should you choose to switch.

Also: The crafting nodes drop items specific only to your crafting profession. You will not have to compete with other people for crafting nodes either. The node does not de-spawn until you harvest it. Very awesome stuff!!!

I tried out Tailoring (cloth armour) during the last Beta weekend and although I only got to around Lv.50, the early indications looked very promising. My crafted armour was not only marginally better than the equivalent vendor armour, but each armour piece looked to have a variety of possible recipes, allowing me to (with the right ingredients) deliberately create armour pieces focused on very specific stats. I even discovered a recipe for creating a unique type of bag. Assuming the other crafting professions follow suit, this looks to make crafters exceptionally useful for catering to your exact needs (by contrast though, with so many specific recipes, it might prove challenging guessing the right stats for good sales in the auctionhouse). The thing I like most about what I saw of GW2 crafting is that it has the potential to be really co-operative. Gone will be the issues of players competing for resources. Harvesting a node didn’t remove it for other players – we could potentially have a hundred players harvest the same node (must screenshot if we ever do). Mobs were much the same – I saw multiple players claiming loot from the same downed mob, so everyone who got a hit in had decent chance of a beneficial drop (potentially useful for teams of players co-operating to farm mobs for specific ingredients).

Thanks all. I am excited to do same crafting but it probably wont be my first stop. On a side note I did think that the nodes seemed few and far between for mining but I saw a bunch of plants/herbs.

Well from what I've seen in the beta they try to put the nodes in somewhat logical places. Plants and herbs get sprinkled along in farms and some along the road. Saplings are always sprinkled in and around wooded areas and mining nodes tend to stick to mountainous and cavernous areas though I've also found some underwater near mountainous areas. Also keep in mind that on the mini map the icon is different for mining nodes than it is for wood or plant nodes. I didn't really figure that one out till a few hours in the beta. Oh and a good tip is if you hold down control it will show the names of everything in sight that isn't friendly. It really helps when you are trying to gather plants and such.
