I have a Logitech G13 gamepad that I use with a gaming mouse. The gamepad has alot of keys that can be bound and was useful when I had alot of action bars/hot bars. Guild Wars 2 wont have the need for so many hot bars so I am hoping to get away with binding the 6 keys that I have on the side of my keyboard and use my mouse for character movement and camera movement.

I will do what I always do, and bind my combat keys to my keypad

I'm a simple freak and even with my disability and nerdiness, I am a straight keyboard and mouse user. I'm glad I had a couple beta weekends and stress tests to help figure out what works for my hands. All I can say it didn't take much and I rather like the simplicity of their setup while still getting some cool ways to do things. Now to just unlearn my Rift habits of mousing a lot due to TOO many bars. I can actually move and attack in this game better than any other though I still find I like being in your face with this game, hence actually liking the guardian version of Briseadh I've tried out. So I use my arrow keys to move but I have to change the default from strafe to turn for left and right. Most times I can use the numbers at the top just fine with the left hand since I can leave it there during a fight and not lose my keys for the primary 1-6 stuff and pop the right hand from the arrow keys to do the utility stuff with the longer cool downs.

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D

Lastly, I bind my dodge key and my switch weapon key to two comfortable buttons on my G700 mouse.

I've never been able to get used to moving with the thumb pad on my Nostromo. I have a Naga mouse and use use the side pad keys with my thumb to strafe and dodge so all movement is on the right mouse hand.

That is a really good idea about using the razor for moving... That would free up my left hand for skills. Do you like that better than doing skills with right hand and keeping movement two handed?

Well it works for me. This is how I am using the Naga atm: I have strafe left on 1, forward on 2, strafe right on 3. Then I have put a simple double click macro on 4, 5 and 6 that dodge left, back, and right. So if for example I am strafing right while attacking and I need to dodge I can just slide my thumb down from 3 to 6, and then back up to 3 to carry on moving after the dodge roll. This leaves 7-12 still free for things like open inventory, loot, a vent push button, etc. The two little buttons on the top of the mouse I have bound to auto run and walk backwards. The Nostromo thumb pad I use for F1-F4 for the Ele attunements, or the clone shatters for mesmer, or weapon switch depending on the character. However, I do still have #8 on my Nostromo bound to run forward, and the 12, 13 and 14 to left back and right so I can use the left hand to move if I want, but I almost never use the left hand to move while in combat. I have always had trouble getting my head around moving and hitting skills with the same hand, just a mental block for me for some reason I need one hand to do one thing and the other to do the other. I have a friend who was always a clicker and he has found the Naga great for having skills on the 1-12 pad because he has always used right hand for skills and left for movement. For me I couldn't get used to skills on my right hand and want them on my left, so that's probably why this is more familiar for me. In GW1 where you stood still a lot more and couldn't move while casting I just used holding down the two mouse buttons to run, obviously that doesn't work at all in newer mmo's but that was my first mmo and I still feel most comfortable moving with right hand and skills with left due to the years of muscle memory. Everyone will be different.

I have a nostromo that i use for movement. It leaves my mouse hand free for targeting on the run. The rest of the keys i bind to 0-9 and the F1-4 keys with space for jumping. The mouse buttons i use for push to talk, target nearest, and regular right and left click operations.

I have a Razer mouse that i will use for my skills while my left hand will be used for movement and my F-keys. I have grown very comfortable with this over a few games and the last 3 BWEs. I gotta be honest, I have only had this mouse for 6 months but there has been a vast improvement in my playing skills because of it.

I have a mouse with 2 extra buttons on the left side. As much as I like it, I originally got it for SCII, and never thought I'd be playing any button-intensive games. I'm not sure I agree with the complete unbinding of the backwards key. While it's not the key you want to use when running away, it's a good one for slow backing away or for careful repositioning. The problem with strafe is that you have to turn your camera to strafe backwards. But usually, I position my fingers in a way that the backwards key is kinda difficult to use anyway, so I don't see the reason to get rid of it. GW2 binding is kinda difficult without having a many-button mouse. :/ At the same time, I'm usually pretty crazy about hotkeys. I also hate having stuff on the numbers. So I'll have to deal with something like this: Dodge: Shift Jump: Space Forward-Strafe Left-Back-Strafe Right: E S D F (allows for more buttons in a symmetric layout) Turn Left: Left Arrow Key Turn Right: Right Arrow Key (RP purposes) Weapon Skill 1: Q (not used much due to automatic AA, unless I decide to turn that off) Weapon Skills 2, 3, 4, 5: A W R G Utility Skills 6, 7, 8: Z X V Heal Skill: Mouse Button 4 (closer to thumb) Elite Skill: T Weapon Swap: Mouse Button 5 (farther from thumb) F1, F2, F3, F4, F5: 1 2 3 4 5 Use: Middle Mouse Button Not sure about calling targets and stuff. Alt, Alt+something, maybe. The general rule is that, to press any of the buttons, either one finger needs to slightly move, hopefully without actually letting go (S->W, F->R, F->G, F->T), or some other finger can deal with it (pinky for A, Q, Z, X; thumb for V). Also, since all 4 ESDF keys are movement keys, I'd usually only have to press one of them, so any remaining keys could press the other hotkeys as long as they're on the opposite side. Some switches like (E->R) are also possible in that case.

Apparently I am far to simple with gaming... Regular keyboard and mouse. Regular bindings except,,, Q = turn left A = Strafe Left E = Turn Right D = Strafe Right Left Alt = Swap weapons (using ~ for vent)

I like taugrim's site alot, and learned alot from him in rift. His keybinds make sense, but were really hard for me to get used to. His skill as a player and at using a keyboard are way higher than mine. What I use now is a naga (1-10 skills) and a Nostromo for everything else. Thumbpad left right is for previous target/next target the rest of the buttons are for movement, etc, with the 4 bottom keys set to f1-f4. Oh also, I use a program called "autohotkey". It allows you to hold down buttons instead of mashing them. I have a simple script that polls the 1-10 keys 10 times a second, when I hold my skill keys down. It's especially useful for a naga or G600, because when your thumb is mashing the number buttons alot, it makes the mouse jerk sideways when you mash em.

Yeah, I have followed Taugrim since RIFT as well. I have finally tried out his keybinds in the BWE's and they make a lot of sense. I just need more practice. The biggest things were getting used to back-up key (mostly for PVE) and middle finger location since it falls on E instead of S. I've been used to mouse movement for a long time now so that's second nature for me. I've been tempted to get a Nostromo or the Logitech equivalent, but haven't been able to justify it... yet :). Taugrim uses Q for heals, but I've got two extra buttons on my trackball - one for heals and the other for dodge. Because of this I may move my strafe keys to Q and E and shift things to the left. Q and E are the "normal" strafe keys so it feels more natural to me. I'm still not sure about that though. I want to keep trying Taugrim's setup before I alter it too much.

I liked his setup, but honestly not having a backup was hard for things like jump puzzles etc. I often like to jump through someone and rotate with my mouse and then hit back a little bit to correct. Anyway, I broke down and got a naga razor. I am going to be mapping 12 keys to that. That will let me map an extra key for my movement on the keyboard.

I need to figure out how to make it work like rift O_O Got used to it, and I was succesful with it, so I'll need to find a way.(I just can't mouse turn for usual turning) Unless I needed to pan for adds, I'd always just keyboard turn.
