I found a great Youtube video explaining how combo fields. Not surprisingly, these will be a great addition to anyone's arsenal and I really want to get them down so it becomes second nature!

Glad you liked it and Yes! They do look like they will take a bit of practice. But they will be soooo much fun to pull off! I've never pvp'd in my life but find myself wanting to try it out because of GW2 and now, even more so after finding my family :) Of course these combos are not pvp exclusive but I can imagine, timed just right, can tip the scales in many situations! Thanks for the link Rvenwolf! Like so many others, I cannot wait for GW2 to release; It's just around the corner! I'm determined to get the elementalist combos down so I'll have a clue of what to do right from the start.
It seemed at low levels in PvE, you could get by quite well simply by mashing buttons. So, pretty much I did, still have a lot to learn. Thanks for this!

Thanks for the link Solarity! So basically we need to recognize the different combo fields across all professions (fire, ice, lighting, water, dark, light, etheral, smoke and poison) so we know when to trigger our profession specific finisher skills (blasts, leaps, projectiles and whirl) in time to create the combo. I can see the importance of learning one profession thouroughly before moving on to another - at least for me. I watched a dungeon-run video at PC Gamer http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/04/02/watch-an-hour-of-guild-wars-2-dungeon-footage-plus-commentary/ that gave me a better sense for how structured PvE will play out. The team in the video were 4 journalists playing with 1 dev, and 3 mesmers, so not an ideal party, but it really brought home for me that GW2 play is different than I'm used to. It's dynamic. When you see a teammate do something AoE-ish, jump thru it, cast/shoot thru it, get behind it. Seems like the worst thing you can do is stand still and work your rotation, ha! This game's gonna turn us all into one of those hyperactive parapatetic jumping-bean players.
