Pretty exciting. Was really wondering what these guys would look like. Pretty happy about the shield.
Apparently this guy is going to dig through the dat files to find the HoM items next. Looking forward to it.

Cool to see! Sorta gives me the feeling like he's doing something we're not s'posed to do, diggin thru the dat files like that. But I'm not above looking! Kudzu the long bow, aaaaahhh! (kudzu is an invasive fast-growing vine that's sort of like English Ivy to try to get rid of, only kudzu can grow literally faster than a some animals move!)
Thanks Vampiresbane. I am not sure whether or not I will seek these, but they look awesome.
Definately might have to try for that rifle on my Engineer - named the "Predator" and featuring an ingredient called "Gift of Stealth", I have a feeling I'm really going to like whatever effect it has. The recipes however are pretty insane. 2 ingredients that are each made up of 4 stacks of 250 collected items (some of which I imagine are quite high end and possibly rare), plus an ingredient purchased with 200 skill points, and then an exotic weapon of the same type (which in turn is probably quite a bit of effort to craft itself) on top of that. Saving up all those materials and skill points and finding 30 gold to purchase the recipes will be one unbelievably huge marathon. With skill points supposedly also used to craft upgraded siege weapons, I've got a feeling I'm unlikely to ever see 200 of them in one place myself.
I'm sure skill points will be cherished. Well, there's about 200 skill points in the game, plus the 79 that you get while leveling up. Each profession only has about 170 points worth of skills. Then after lvl 80, you continue to get skill points every time you earn enough xp to earn a level, sort like how Planar Attunement works in Rift. My understanding is skill points also get used in the mystic forge for making cool (non-legendary) things.
The interesting thing about the mystic forge from what I understand about it, it's very open to them sneaking new things in from time to time.
I think the goal with the skill point limitation is to ensure these weapons stay rare and legendary. In GW1 they have the same mechanic with earning skill points after max level. So I can see how 200 can be accumulated over time fairly steadily if not easily for consistent players. But it does put them out of reach for people not specifically trying for them with so many other ways of spending skill points.
Yeah, the first 250 skill points or so will happen just as you do what you're gonna be doing. And you'll spend a bunch of those on skills. Depending on the profession, you may want half of the skills, I'd guestimate, some more. There's xp vials if you want to speed it up. I did 3 epic quests in Everquest. It's been long enough that I'm definitely ready for a long, grand undertaking again. The cool thing with a big task like that is you really can't go blitzy-hardcore, cuz no matter what it's gonna take a long time. But you gotta be organized and put steady effort to get it done. Sorta like grad school ;D
It's been a lot of years since I did my EQ epics, but boy they were great. These look like they will be pretty satisfying too - a lot of effort for something fairly rare.
Most recipes also require 250 dungeon tokens which is about 10-15 runs of a specific dungeon. This makes me kind of excited because I was worried people wouldn't have a good incentive to run dungeons. One even requires 250 unidentified dyes!
250 dyes! omg Well, I'll get there eventually! I watched a video of a run thru Ascalon Catacombs, and dungeon-running looks like really great fun. Plus some of the armor sets are very nice looking!
