Hello and welcome! The only thing you may have to upgrade is the video card. What you have will be enough to play the game, but certainly not with the highest settings. CPU and RAM are more than adequate. That i7 920 is still a great cpu. Especially once overclocked.

Welcome to the family! Based on the performance in beta-testing of one of my computers with same CPU and similar stats, I think you'll find it runs GW2.exe quite well.

I run a GTS 450 as well. I can run GW2 just fine. I also have AMD X4 975 OC to 4.3GHz and 16GB RAM on a ASUS Sabertooth 990FX (which probably helps the graphic card). I will be upgrading the card eventually but until I run into issues, its not a priority.

If you want to upgrade in the next month I'd say GTX 560 or Radeon 7850. If you want to wait until about a month after GW2 releases, look into the GTX 660 and 650. Like I said, the 450 will play it. Just not with all the eye candy. I'm a visual nut. I hate knowing I'm not seeing the game at it's best. However, I only have a Radeon 6870 and it barely keeps GW2 playable at max settings at 1920x1200. That's also with an i7 2600.

the processor of i7 920 would still hold it right? maybe i'll follow your advice on getting 560,660,650. hopefully one of those graphic card would fall under 150 USD. because right now im out of budget to buy an expensive graphic card.

I have an i7 920 and it ran fine, but do have 2 GTX 295 cards so I am not sure whether that makes a difference.

Two 450s perform about the same as a single 560. It's pretty close. I'd say if you have the motherboard that can handle it (being that it's a 1366 platform it should) as well as the power supply to handle it you should be fine. Also, it depends on how cheap you can get that 450 for. :) That being said I'm a big fan of one single powerful card. You'll have less issues with a single card than with an SLI or Crossfire setup. Apparently GW2 supports crossfire and sli so the choice is yours. :)

hello themau!! The thing is i can get gts 450 for around 60 usd and 560 gtx for around 150 usd. double the price. Yes my motherboard does support SLI but i'm wondering if my power supply would support it 550W 80+ bronze Corsair

I use the I7 920 still, it is a solid CPU. I don't have it overclocked either. I just upgraded my graphics card to the MSI geforce 570 GTX Twin frozr II. I run with 6 gigs of ram, I would upgrade to the Corsair Vengeance 12 gig kit but for now 6 gigs is doing me well. I got the graphics card for 250 from newegg.com. If you are looking for a newer card, but not the newest and want to spend between 200-250 on your card. The 570's are solid cards. Though at that point I would just go 570, 580, 590 depending on what you are willing to spend. But if you want a 580 or 590 I would just get a Geforce 670 for 407$. EVGA geforce 490. I recommend this only if you don't care how much you want to spend. This is the newest GPU and, if you can spend the 400 its worth it. If you're on a budget I would not get this card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130787 MSI geforce 570 GTX twin frozer II card. This was on sale when I got it for 250 I think overall with shipping and handling I ended up paying 279 for it. This has a custom fan by MSI that keeps it about 20 degrees C cooler. It is a solid card and, I am very happy with it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127682&Tpk=geforce%20570%20gtx%20twin%20frozr Just to touch on something Sarosan said. I am also a visual nut, I hate knowing I am not seeing the best my computer could put out. But if you can wait, I would wait and get a 6 series NVIDIA card (or the equivalent ATI card. As far as a whole new system, I would just wait. I have the same CPU, same amount of ram, granted my motherboard is probably faster, not sure, its the EVGA X58 Classified board. Even with my old card, Raedeon 450 HD it ran GW2 pretty nicely, just not at max settings. With the new card I was running smooth at max settings. That is something to consider.

Imagine in Malaysia, the price list of items are somewhat like this.... http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=767824&hl=gtx+560 PS: I'm not promoting, I don't even think you guys can buy it outside Malaysia :) Imagine RM 1 = 1 USD, technology stuff are a bit expensive here [actually we have a not so good currency]. I can only afford around RM400-500 max to upgrade my PC currently. Kind of in a budget tight few months now. So yea..... guess the only option now is either hold up my graphic card or SLI another gts450 to boost its performance. Btw which graphic card is better for GW2? ATI or Nvidia?

So far there have been limited benchmarks released. guildwars2guru.com has the following site for the BWE3 numbers: http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/44572-beta-weekend-3-benchmark-review/ Note there isn't any degree of consistency. They are all different platforms giving different results. The only thing that looks intriguing to me is the Phenom II 925 w/ 6870 numbers that are better than the i5 3450 w/ gtx 460 numbers overall. The minimum framerate on the 6870 looks better than the GTX 460. Those cards are roughly similar in performance in other benchmarks with the 6870 enjoying a 5-10% increase on average. The fact that the GTX 460 with vastly superior i5 3450 get's outperformed by a very modest Phenom II 925 at max settings makes me think perhaps it's better optimized for AMD cards. Really though, it's impossible to say without benchmarking on the same platform with 10-15 different video cards. Also, that's still the beta client. Things may change in the release build. Typically you want the minimum framerate to be higher so that you get a more consistent/less choppy gameplay experience. If there's a huge gap between minimum and average framerate you can almost bet the gameplay was far less consistent. As for your video card dilemma, I'd probably just keep what you have for now. What you have WILL play the game. If you feel like what you have isn't meeting your standards after release then get another 450 or just wait until you can afford a better card. :)

Also according to posts in the tech support fourms , the game is desgined to support multi core cpu`s unlike majority of games that only support single core cpu`s . So even older systems with quad core should be fine provided you have enough ram and a good vid card .

Garundia, given your concerns about exchange rate and budget, let me assure you that in the beta weekends in my home we found i7-920, 6 GB RAM, with a GTX 260 to be quite satisfactory running the game. Your GTS 450 ranks only one notch below my card at tomshardware*, so as long as your system is healthy, you'll be playing GW2 just fine with your current equip. * = http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html
